Very informative thank you. I have been looking for an X30 with maple front and wasn't sure if it would have too much boom or the X20 would be a better fit. I would be plugging directly into a Boss ve8 harmonizer and then to a desk and to a Boss L1b2. I know little about their guitars if it would be too large as I'm use to a Grand Auditorium size but just had a tour of the factory. It blew me away. How do you find the size comfort of the X30?
@gair1944Күн бұрын
You can email me directly at [email protected] - to answer your question, the X30 is definitely a deeper and larger guitar. the contours and armrest bevels help and I play full length gigs with no issues. But it's definitely bigger. the X20 is physically more comfortable with my arm over the body. My X30 has a maple veneer too. I love how rich it sounds acoustically and also amplified.

Within the last 2 or so years, I got a Taylor 722ce, and a D-35 Martin. I love them. And the Taylor and Martin you're demonstrating are both gorgeous and great sounding.

Very nice, you. Handle it so well . Can you explain what looper/ guitar you use and is that an X20, what's your opinion now.
@gair1944Күн бұрын
Yes this is an X20 with Graphtech Ghost Piezo and K&K pickup. I use an Electro Harmonic Stereo 720 Looper mostly. But this was likely my Boss RC500. It works the same for basic looping and layering but I wasn't using all the extra features of the Boss. So I switched to the EHX Stereo 720 because it fits my pedal board better and sounds great. My opinion now almost a year later is: I LOVE the Emerald guitars. I do however gig with the larger Emerald X30 more. Even amplified, it's richer and fuller for my solo gig needs. But I love the X20 and play it all the time! The guitars are so incredibly stable. The action doesn't shift or change with weather seasons and they stay in tune better than any other guitars I own. They are superbly musical for my amplified needs. If I were playing purely acoustic however, I would pick up my Martin D18, OM28 or Collings OM1 ....(Or Gibson Custom Shop Songwriter) The traditional wood acoustic guitars do sound more 'woody' and organic ...especially acoustically. I bought the Emerald Guitars for amplified gigging however and for that, they are always exceptional. Hope that helps.

Wildwood and Lollar sounds excellent but different. Lollar more scooped and clear 50s sound. Wildwood more mids - 60s type pickup with more output I suspect. PRS has scooped mids as well but a bit more generic sound.
@gair19444 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching. The Wildwood 10 Strat is superior. I always listen again when someone comments. To me it's no contest. The PRS Silver Sky is long gone. It just doesn't stand up to a better Strat like the Fender CS 61 Wildwood 10.

Great playing! Very nice sounding amp. I have a number of great Amps and just bought a WGS G 12 C speaker and I think this is the best demo so far because you play multiple guitars and you use OF pedals. You don't just go for the Fender Blackface Sound with the speaker and that is how I'm going to use it with multiple guitars and amps: Ceriatone Princeton head, Brown Tremolux head, ceriatone JM 50, Dr Z Mazerati and Carmen Ghia amps.

Thanks for sharing your comments. That's a nice list of amps you have! The G12C is super versatile. That's good information to have. Just an FYI - I am also a huge fan of the Fat Ji,mmy C1270. It is also built by WGS and reminds me of the G12C. I never had both speakers at the same time so I haven't compared side-by-side but I think I prefer the Fat Jimmy. But either are great.

Emeralds are unique sounding and looking for sure. They sound great. Perfect gig guitars. What was that first tune you were picking over the loop? It was a really relaxing beautiful tune.
@jimgilmore66610 күн бұрын
I think that the deeper cab in the Rambler gives it a more rounded voice to the low end, and the mid's more presence at whatever setting over the narrower depth of the DRRI. 6V6 as opposed to 6L6's in the Carr can't be discounted either for the basic tone differences. The Rambler just has a sonically "fuller" voice, same family as the Deluxe Reverb, but more of a warmer, fuller cousin. I've had my Rambler since Dec. of 2001 a few weeks after they came out (chassis #119).
@gair194410 күн бұрын
@@jimgilmore666 I agree with everything you shared. That said there are times when the Deluxe reverb handwired wins. Both are superb world class but for me, the Rambler is always dimensional, Inspirational and inviting.

Bose L1 is a hobbyist's toy, Turbosound ip 1000 is a professional's tool.. more than 1000 gigs with turbo sound (7 years) , not on the couch at home, but with the audience at concerts
@gair194422 күн бұрын
I respectfully could not disagree more. I've done over 75 gigs this year (2024) by June 1. The Bose performs admirably and professionally in every circumstance. It's a lot easier to cart to-and-from shows. The Turbosound IP1000 is clunky and awkward by comparison.

As an owner or former owner of all three of these amps, I’d like to say that that is the best sounding blues I’ve ever heard. I always found the EL style tubes to shrill for my style. And every time I buy one I end up selling it. I own a copy of that Princeton but I ended up replacing the speaker and going with a Alessandro GA 64 but I have found the 12 inch Princeton cabinet too small for the 12” speaker. It feels and sounds boxy. I have a 1963 fender deluxe with the original Oxford speaker, this is the non-reverb deluxe, and it is the best sounding amplifier I’ve ever heard. I guess I’m just a 6l6/6v6 guy Fantastic comparison

Great playing, and beautiful guitar! I just ordered the same model/color from Reverb. I would prefer a non-painted headstock, but it's not a showstopper. I'm not a big fan of the Fender Noiseless Pickups either (unless you use it primarily for recording), so I'll probably switch the pickups out as well, most likely for Lollars.
