Great video. Can I ask where you caught it? Even though its a few years old the equipment on this one was from 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division from @ Ft Stewart, GA returning after 9 months as the 8th Rotational Brigade to Republic of Korea.

Great Video! Out of curiosity, do they let you on the platform or do you have to be a ticket holder?
@PetersonRailProductions9 ай бұрын
I was a ticket holder, however there were some people standing on the platform who did not board the train.

If you’re wanting to do some serious sightseeing along Lake Pepin down to Winona on the Builder you want to have a riverside seat in the lounge car when the train goes through Hastings (and it doesn’t take long to get to Hastings from St. Paul). The train goes pretty fast but having the wide view from the lounge windows gives the illusion that the train is going slower than it really is. When I get on the train in St.Paul for Milwaukee, I try to get a seat on the left side of the coach car so if there’s no seat available in the lounge car I can still take in the river. You miss the view of the river above Hastings but it’s the river below Hastings that is more photogenic. From St.Cloud, a lot of people detrain in St.Paul so you have a good chance of getting a good seat. On the return trip, Amtrak packs the coach cars full with people headed for St. Paul. On my last trip I was the last person to board the car but through some incredible good fortune, the last seat turned out to be a window seat. It’s okay to be in a packed car headed west if you’ve got a device or a book or an interesting seat companion because it’s dark outside long before you cross into Minnesota. I love taking the Empire Builder just for the train ride and tooling around Milwaukee which has a great art museum.
