Literally, before Kinich, the last male 5* characters were Neuvillette and Wriothesley... They were released in 4.1... Kinich was released in 5.0 That's a lot of patches without Male 5* (not counting 4* because those usually don't interest people that much)

im going to say this and i know its going to be rather unpopular, lets break down the limited male 5* characters by release. 1.x - Diluc(1.0), venti(1.0), tartaglia(1.1), zhongl(1.1)i, albedo(1.2), xiao(1.3) and kazuha(1.6) (unlike the rest of the patches 1.x covers 2 regions mondstad and liyue) 2.x - itto (2.3), ayato(2.6) 3.x- tighnari(3.0), cyno(3.1), wanderer(3.3), alhaitham(3.4) and baizhu(3.6) 4.x- lyney(4.0), neuvillette(4.1) and wriothesley(4.1) 5.x- kinich(5.0) would i like there to be more male characters, well yes but i know that female characters sell better to the main target demographic of action gatch games. at current were just coming up to the half way point on 5.x so there still time for them todrop in the 2 or 3 male characters like the last 2 patches.

One thing to note is it also depends on how they're spaced. Sumeru had plenty of male characters and Fontaine was male centric at the beginning. So if there's a lot of females on backlog, then they're going to be all together regardless.

I want more male characters because I'm a male, and enjoying playing as my own gender. Tired of seeing 5000 6 year old girls as my options for playable characters. While I do appreciate Xilonen and Mavuika and their actual adult-woman-builds, I really want to be able to play as a strong man like one of the Eremite soldiers, without having to choose Wriothesly and no one else.

I laugh whenever I see people shit on the female characters because they're upset there are no male characters. Its like, you dont have to hate on the existing characters because theyre not making male ones. On an unrelated note, i suspect a large part of why female characters sell better than male characters is because they give female characters better, non onfield dps, so they just have a longer shelf life

To be honest Female Character sell more than male Character because Majority of the genshin players are men and few females so still As a Waifu based player I need more male character

The worst thing is most of the recent female characters have been pretty uninteresting personality wise because their looks/typical anime personality archetypes is enough for the gooner market
