I went to my russian art college to became good artist for making comics, but that time comics in Russia had very bad reputations and my teachers really loathe my scifi and fantasy art. But at least we had great outdoor drawing practice, addicted to it since then. Now trying reignate my childhood passion to imaginative art. Love Simon's comics, Habitat is amazing!

As somebody who's running a Comic Club for my friends, and forcing them to all read Giant Days #1-8, this interview is brilliant and has been a really helpful resource for putting together a creative team bio. Thank you so much! Also, just great interviewing techniques - contributing enough questions to keep prodding the discussion forward, but stepping back to let the interview subjects answer the Q's and direct the conversation at times.

This graphic novel is very good, I find Hawkins wearing a cat mascot head really cute, I hope they make a movie like this in the future, also Mari Costa should make another graphic novel that's about a shy high school girl who goes on a date with a cute boy while wearing a school tiger mascot head.

reviewing this wonderful interview. I really hope old Barry has had the curiosity to look how the market has changed in the last 20 years where most of the interest and creativity and even sells many times are in comics that are totally realistic, humaine, nuanced, that range all kinds of genres, and where french comics, american, comis, japaneses commics have continued to influence each other. I would advice him to read so many thing that might bring him the energy to do a last thing not so dark and sad as monsters. something joyful. and maybe, british.

I dearly miss "Platinum Grit". I was visiting at a friend's house and they had a hard copy of "Oglaf" on the bookshelf. I remarked that I knew quite a bit about the artists, since I had stumbled across "Grit" back in the early 2000s. Those of us on the Forum were sad to see the comic die a slow death and held out hope for years that its story would conclude somehow.

I really enjoyed Mr. Chantler's "Northwest Passage" and "Three Thieves" Series (art, story, etc), but in this interview, he mentioned that "Squire & Knight" addressed or had something to do with the "anti-intellectualism" of the pandemic period. What does that exactly mean? (There was a nod, nod, wink, wink giggle that they both exchange suggesting that they agreed about this statement, but they weren't open enough to say directly what it is they agreed on. Thank you to anyone for helping me understand this.)

The book is in no way political. But, as stated, its theme of reason vs. ignorance was inspired in part by a lifelong dislike for our culture's distrust (if not hostility) toward education, reading, and other intellectual pursuits. It's nothing new in North American culture, of course, but it's not hard to see how much those chickens have come home to roost, given the emotionally-charged, hyper-partisan nature of virtually every aspect of today's society.

@@ScottyC1972 Thank you for the reply. I truly appreciate it. As a retired professor, I understand your thoughts and concerns over anti-intellectualism (although this concept is defined differently by different groups, so that's why I had to ask. I appreciate the clarification and also the interview with Comix Experience). Strangely, I've experienced anti-intellectualism in academia (of all places), inner cities, and small towns in North America, and really every culture and continent I've visited. I look forward to reading "Two Generals" next (I'm a little late to the party and have started reading your early works - which have been wonderful) and then "Squire and Knight." Best wishes.
