I would not use that trick where you use your fist to push it out and rotate to lift. This looks like it puts unwanted pressure on the info screen which is mounted on rubber grommets. Mine is already flimsy enough.

All RSes prior to the introduction of the 1200 had Telelever on the front. The K1300S was a redesign of the IL4 "brick" engine of the previous K1200RS, and at 503 lbs was over 130 lbs lighter(!) with 50+ more HP. It also lost things like adjustable handlebars, seat height, and footpegs that the earlier RS had, and gained that (IMO) ugly dash. Bike shown in the video is nice but it's a garage queen. Sell it if you're not going to ride it. :)

As much as I love my RS, the aeros are bad. I've had multiple RSes and this is the worst as far as buffeting & noise is concerned, even after trying multiple aftermarket screens (currently using a clear MRA Variotouring). Maybe this will be improved with a R1300RS? Who knows.
@Texas2Tires

Hoping the 1300 RS makes some improvements over the 1250. The screen is ridiculous and why I had to buy that $30 wind deflector that sits on top of my screen to cut down on the buffeting

It is not easy to change position on the go. It becomes dangerous because you can lose balance trying to move it up or down. A small lever would do the trick. Just stop, adjust the screen and continue your journey. It is safer. Also the retention springs of the pins that hold the windscreen come off frequently with the bike’s trepidation. As well as the ones on the passenger footpegs (since less used and more subjected to that effect). On my dealership the mechanics in the workshop confirmed this is a common issue.

@ if you own the same bike you know that you have to wrestle with the mecanism. Does not make it safer, I chose to protect myself from disaster, rather stop, adjust the screen and proceed. I don't have any trouble moving my windscreen up or down on my '23 R1250RS. I push out/forward while moving it up or down, definitely helps. Also, just grab up higher on the windscreen to give you more leverage (I grab the upper left side of the windscreen). The real issue with the 1250RS windscreen in my opinion, is the ridiculously unacceptable vibration/clatter at low speeds. Local dealer on test ride said nothing abnormal, which I completely disagree with, especially for a $20k bike. Thanks for the video, nice to see a comparison of what BMW engineers have come up with on other models. Actually surprised there are so many variations!

Thanks for checking out the video and commenting. My stock windshield would vibrate and make a clacking sound at low RPMs especially when going around a corner. I thought to myself I just spent so much money on a premium motorcycle and it makes this kind of racket. My BMW dealer could not fix it. However it fortunately fixed itself when I purchased an aftermarket Puig smoke colored race screen. It’s basically the same size as the stock screen except it’s I believe curved a little bit more which put more outward pressure on the hinges where the screen goes up and down thus stopping the clanking sound.

Interesting! On the RS it would be unsafe to try and raise it and it seems like it should be electric right for a premium bike. Also, have you test rode the F 800 or GT bikes? What do you think of those bikes and the R 1250 bike? Just asking. And thanks for this video.

What do you think about the upcoming 1300 model that is going to be kicked off, probably by end of 2025 ? Do you feel you’re going to be tempted to buy it ? Thanks for this video! I see your point about BMW making a lot of GS models and I think certain models, I might add. I wonder if this will bite them in the butt or are those models selling in other markets. Regarding the RS depending on what they do to it I would take a look at it and my bike is not that old but I do like updated tech stuff and some better features. I do not know if I would go for a pure automatic version of the bike because shifting is part of the riding experience for me. What about you? I wish BMW made and RS version but with an inline 4 or 3 cylinder version but that is not there style. Have you test rode the sport bikes yet? Finally, I see they added that 600 miles service which I think is an excellent idea for a premium bike like this. I wish they would bring back the Telelever on the RS like they use to have it when it was a RS 1100. Thanks

Here in the UK the stock seat height is 820mm. You can specify the 760mm low seat from the factory, but as an accessory, you can also get a 790mm seat too. I'm only 5'7" with a 29" inside leg and have both the 790mm and 760mm seats and don't find either seat uncomfortable, though with the 760mm seat my knees feel a little cramped when I first get on the bike but for me anyway doesn't get uncomfortable and I'm 68! I average about 600 miles a week in all weather. We mostly deal with damp wet roads 9 months of the year and I've never had any issues. The 1200 for me is perfect for my commute. They'd cut the R-R and R-RS before the R-RT. BMW doesn't break out per-line sales figures but they told us in 2021, that about half of their sales that year were R1250RT and R18s. I'd expect the 1300RT to be released next year, and wouldn't be surprised to see a RS delayed until 2026 -- two extra years of feedback & refinement to what is a brand new engine design doesn't sound that bad. And if ours are indeed the last RSes, that much more special! But I don't think so.

Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your insights. I’ve never experienced too much heat coming off the cylinder heads and I ride in 100 + degree summer weather here in Texas. I find that riding around the wind evenly cools those heads. My quick shifter smoothed out a lot after I tuned the bike with BrenTune. I don’t use the connected app at all other than to have it post the speed limits on the TFT. The rest of it is useless. The screen creates nasty head buffeting. Exhaust valve issue sounds problematic my friend got rid of his and went with open Akrapovic headers. Only downside is lack of back pressure which can cause the bike to stall. Definitely sounds a lot louder.

Great content! Just what I was looking for these days. What do you think about the RT during the very hot Texas summer. I live in TX as well. I think that air bubble/protection will be a huge disadvantage. You did not mention it in the video. Was looking forward and am wondering about your opinion. The reason being that I am looking to buy a sport tourer with 1250 BMW twin, So I was looking at the RS with more air flow then the RT. Also is there anything else you can add to your comments about the riding difference between the RS and the RT? How did you feel after you got back to your RS. Thank you in advance.
@Texas2Tires
@Texas2Tires 14 күн бұрын
Thank you for checking out the video and commenting I appreciate it. I did briefly mention about the wind and the lack of wind in the summer heat in Texas. When it’s 105 in Texas it doesn’t really matter what bike you’re riding it’s hot. The one good thing about the boxer engine is that the cylinder heads are out in the wind so they’re constantly being cooled so unlike my buddies that have sport bikes when I get to a red light I don’t feel much heat coming up from the engine. So that’s definitely a plus in the summer. My RS definitely has more wind flow but the seating position is not as comfortable as the RT. The RT is about $8000 more than the RS and it’s about 81 pounds heavier so there’s that to consider I think the RS is a better looking bike but that is subjective. One of my riding buddies really likes his S 1000 XR and he does go on short tours with it. However that’s an altogether different driving experience where most of the power is at the high end with a little mid range very little on the low and the torque whereas the RS is all low end and mid range high end is fairly flat if I was going to go on a lot of longer multiple day overnight trips I would buy the RT just because it’s a better seating position it’s more comfortable has luggage and good wind protection for long highway driving all things the RS does not have. With that said, I know quite a few people that have RS and use them as long-haul tours with no issue

@@Texas2Tires Hey there and thanks for your great collection of videos. I also have a black 2020 RS and enjoy it very much. However, I too "suffer" from the seating position/leaning forward situation you referred to in your video as well as in above reply. Question to you: Have you ever looked at/considered replacing the clipped-on handlebar of the RS with a GS-like tabular one. I know, and have seen, brand new RS bikes that come out of the BMW factory with the tabular bar installed. Other vendors like Wunderrlich also make tabular handlebar for the RS. I myself am looking for this option as it may have the potential to provide extra relief beyond the minimal offered by bar risers. I use the Helibar set for my 2020 RS which do not provide much relief. And so, wondering what your thoughts on this. Thanks much!
@Texas2Tires
@Texas2Tires 10 күн бұрын
@@yl4970 Thank you for your comments and question. For my uses, the stock bar setup on my RS is fine. I work on gripping more with my legs and relaxing my shoulders. 2 hours without a break is OK for me beyond that it gets a bit uncomfortable. Again which is fine with me because most of my rides are less than 3 hours. If I started doing more long haul rides, I would most likely buy an RT or perhaps an XR, which comes with a more upright seating position with tubular bars. As for the tubular bars, those come stock with the R 1250 R and should be more comfortable, but I've never rode an R before. Personally I feel putting tubular bars on the RS would kill the sporty look of the bike. Again that is just my opinion. Interesting to hear that the bar risers haven't helped you. Usually I hear that it does help. Have you test rode the RT or the XR? If not, you should give them a try. I think you'll be more comfortable on those bikes. Usually I am able to fit in 3-4 bikes. Just depends how long you stay there and if you go both days.

I took an RT out in May on a Motorrad ride out. Beautiful bike, and other that feeling the weight down low, it pretty much rode and handled like my Trident. I hit that engine faring twice at stops with my left leg.

Great video! Thanks for your insight. As I’ve said I had a 98RT, have the 23RS, and hope to pay it off by the time the 1300 RT becomes available. Nervous about whether to choose it with or without a clutch though.

Thank you for the kudos, appreciate it. I think I will go for the clutch on mine. Depends on how much they are charging for that luxury.

I wish I knew about this demo day ride. I would've loved to demo the K1600 GT and the M1000 XR.

They usually do a demo day once or twice a year at RideNow Powersports. I see the ads for it on Facebook. Go on Facebook and follow right now power sports and or BMW of Austin so you don’t miss the next time
