If your company introduces this it means your jobs at risk and there's only a few years left till your automated out

On the contrary, introducing this technology is about ensuring longevity and safety for skilled workers. Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) is a serious condition caused by prolonged exposure to vibration from tools like grinders, sanders, and drills, often leading to permanent damage to the hands, arms, and fingers. Our balance arm models are specifically designed to reduce the vibration felt by the operator, helping to minimize the risk of HAVS and prolonging the health and safety of those who use them.

Thats pretty slick. They have it in a mag latch with 40v or 2x18v drive? Imagine with two Milwaukee 9AH HO 18v or a Makita 40v, and give it a magnetic base and leveling foot....

they are using different sized taps to make it look like it works better. smaller taps make smaller chips that buildup no matter what you're using. larger taps make shaving strips instead of small chips. additionally, larger tap sizes complete faster than smaller ones, making the product seem faster. it's probably no better than a regular tap.

Can it be used for just drilling before tapping
@FlexMachineToolsАй бұрын
We do not recommend the FlexArm for drilling for a few reasons. There is no rack and pinion, so all of the downward force needs to be applied by the operator. Also the standard motor for the pneumatic tapping arms is only 400 RPMs, so the bit would not be able to spin fast enough to be effective, especially when dealing with harder materials. However, we do offer arms designed to be used with magdrills. You can check out those out at www.flexarminc.com!

Arguably the best way to hold a tool. Though you can only cycle it a set amount of times

Because it only drills holes that are already there? Because it plays that song every time you turn it on? Because it tells a funny joke after every hole? Because your regular arms would get jealous? Because it can't hold a full sized drill?
@isakrosen6560Ай бұрын
It's not for drilling, it's for threading.
@FlexMachineToolsАй бұрын
You're absolutely right-if someone bought a tapping arm expecting it to drill, they might regret it! But if you need to thread, ream, or chamfer those pre-drilled holes, the FlexArm is designed to make those tasks faster and easier.

I have a tapping problem that I really think you guys would be great at solving. I assume you guys have a small high precision model that can be used in the biomedical/ aerospace industry? We are getting our first run of custom-made taps in in the next 90 days and I think a flex arm would be a great addition. Our taps that are being made are 0.25,000 in OD with a 1.27 mm thread pitch. We need to tap one to five holes per year in mild steel. Do you guys have a machine that could drive this tap?

It's just a 1018 mild steel square tube. We run this as part of our training program on the FlexCNC, so the piece itself does not have a purpose other than to act as a test piece, but the thermal drilling is especially useful for thin materials because the displaced material forms a collar around the hole, adding strength to the threads. This eliminates the need for inserts or extra hardware, creating a more durable connection.
