We usually run braid with a mono (or even heavier braid) top shot for a stretch and abrasion resistance with sandbars, reefs, and other things that will cut your line!

If you are fishing in florida its the law you have to have a minimum of 80lbs line. and you have to take a shark fishing course.

Good catch. Its not as uncommon as some think for them to be around Galveston. They are around all the time, its just the numbers of them compared to all the others is like 1 to 100 so its not often you get one on your line before another gets it. But yea offshore theres a lot of em
