I think it makes perfect sense to prioritize resolution and graphical fidelity over a high frame rate in a game like this. Having a steady 60fps probably would’ve meant the visuals would’ve needed to take a hit, and JRPGS are a genre where I think visuals are more important than frame rate. Also more importantly, if we want Nintendo to go back to making paper Mario games like this people need to actually buy the game. I think people who say 30fps is unplayable are heavily over-exaggerating. The game looks and runs great, I’ve played it.

Yeah but this and Super Paper Mario work so well when running at 60, but most people don't really mind playing at 30

I particularly agree with you RPG games don’t really need high framerates. As most RPGs are just press a button and that’s it. TTYD however has timed inputs for attacks and, defense not only that the game also has some platforming in it and other mini games. With a lower framerate It will be a bit harder to get them down. So I would rather have better gameplay and frame-rate than better visuals any day. Plus it’s baffling the switch that’s three generations from the GameCube performance worse than the original GameCube. Nintendo could do it as look at Metroid Prime remastered it still maintained its original 60 fps and Mario RPG with a combat system similar to TTYD is able to to have 60 fps and better visuals Nintendo was just lazy with this one. “If we want Nintendo to go back to make Paper Mario games like this people need to buy the game.” I’ve seen this people say this but no that’s not always true if that were the case Nintendo would’ve tried to make a game similar to TTYD or N64 Paper Mario a while ago due to the negative feedback of Sticker star and color splash. I’m sure Nintendo always knew people prefer the two first paper Mario games, this port is going to sell well regardless since it’s a Mario game but, like most fans like me have given up on Nintendo making another game similar it. I could be wrong about this so don’t quote me on this Nintendo told intelligence system to stop making games like TTYD to make each game different which explains why after TTYD each Paper Mario game had their own unique mimic and system like Super Paper Mario being a traditional 2D plat-former and so on.

The solution is to buy the game, "dump it with your hacked switch and definitely don't download it online because you have a patched model" and emulate it on your PC.

honestly its not that bad. it is way better graphicly and in general its not that they couldnt run it at 60fps. they are porting it to the next console with improvments

I got a modded wii, the game on a usb drive, and disabled the home screen so I don't need a wii mote lol 4k upscaling is better on dolphin anyways. Yeah the 30fps is killer, looks worse when docked.

It's a reference to the first game where some kid said that as well. It became a meme and Marina makes a reference to it in one of the splatfest dialogs. (not sure which one)

I still have the original.. I got it in 1983.. But I will for sure buy this.. Pretty awesome that you can play the old games on this one..! I think I still have like 20-25 of the original old games.. 🙂

About the joycons, Yes it does change color depending on the joycon colors. I have the red and blue ones. I pretty sure its been like that since the switch first came out.
