Muy buena selección. Esa edición de Don Lucero es la del 2015? Que tiene la intro de Oboi cortada. Pensaba conseguirla a pesar de eso, el sonido de Fina Ropa Blanca es muy bueno

I think that most people miss the irony of this scene. This scene is meant to put Terrence Fletcher's overinflated ego out on display. This scene is meant to show that at the end of it all, the "great" Terrence Fletcher is no better than the Starbucks CD musicians he is unfairly critical of. It's also the moment when Andrew finally sees that his great teacher is no more than a regular jazz musician. One who is apparently unworthy of the greatness that Andrew seeks himself.

I think the scene is supposed to be ironic. It's a moment that reveals this man for the fraud he truly is...And that in all of his hostile critique of students and other greats, at the end of the day, he is no more than a Starbucks CD jazz guy himself.

It's a nice song to listen to when you're in a lounge room, but after all the abuse he inflicted on his students I definitely didn't expect something so bland and middle of the road.
@MinecraftDude1245peni4 жыл бұрын
It's not about complexity of the music it's to show the second side of Fletchers personality
@goudenwissel98534 жыл бұрын
Very true! It's at odds with his anarchistic demeanor. Everyone has a lot of duality inside of them and it shows how well rounded this character is.
@MinecraftDude1245peni4 жыл бұрын
@@goudenwissel9853 Mhm. Plus if you really wanted to look deep into it, you could say its deceptively simple and that corresponds to the deceptive image of Fletcher during their talk in the club. Fletcher appears nice and even understanding, which he ironically is, but this illusion of being simple and ignorant of the fact that Neiman ratted on his teaching methods is like that of the song. It's a simple song yet a complex character sits behind it, playing it.
@dylanmorgan79004 жыл бұрын
i doubt chilled jazz bar like that would appreciate the band blasting out tunes like caravan xD
@jacobruiz973 жыл бұрын
@@goudenwissel9853 I wouldn't say duality in the strictest sense, but rather “plurality, ” since we all possess a myriad of personality attributes that often contrast with one another.

I really love most of this movie, but I figured, after all that shit talking, Terrence Fletcher would be playing some harmonically complex and difficult super jazz. They really should've had him playing some advanced bebop music and not smooth jazz here.
@seunghoyoum5 жыл бұрын
Considering the speech he gives after this, i thought the unexpected genre was rather fitting and acts greatly in foreshadowing his complex personality.
