During a bronchoscopy, the surgeon retrieves a small bronchial tissue specimen with a biopsy brush. The surgical technologist assisting the surgeon uses a brush to smear the microscope slide held by the circulator. 1) What is the purpose of the smear? 2) Is this Procedure considered a sterile procedure?

RIGHT!!!???? Before pressing play, I was loathing the video because the videos from their sight have a robot narrating the steps. The second I heard his voice I squealed with excitement!! Anything he narrates keeps my attention! Probably watched every FF episode 20 times because his voice is so unique and makes the show super creepy!!

No one has ever been able to explain to me what the reader is reading in the BI, there can be no growth at one hour, so what has changed in the BI, and how does the reader detect it, 3M just said read the IFU
@sterileprocessingdepartmen5926 Жыл бұрын
Endospores or bacterial spores are the microorganisms that are predominantly used within Biological Indicators, as they are considered some of the most difficult microorganisms to destroy. The incubator technology includes an ultraviolet light that detects growth.
@texomajohn2916 Жыл бұрын
@@sterileprocessingdepartmen5926 are you saying it can detect grow using ultraviolet in one hour ? It does not grow that fast , I have been told that there is an enzyme that is destroyed in autoclave process, and that the ultraviolet is showing that the enzyme no longer exists, not sure if that is correct,

The nozzle seems to gunk up a lot. What do you suggest. Alcohol doesn't work.
@alexjany19693 жыл бұрын
Great question! Keep nozzle on OFF position when not in use. You may use a cloth with hot water to clean the nozzle and degunk.

amazing that the skin up to the elbows is exposed..... I don't think flakes of skin being flung around in the operating theatre is such a good idea when opening the package.
@newmexico50986 жыл бұрын
You are actually required to wear a disposable OR jacket with sleeves all the way down to your wrist and never pulled up while wrapping instruments or assembling trays - AAMI standards.
