It may be centred towards early 80's synth sounds, but I found it sounds warmer in its analog patterns than the EHX Synth9, which sounds blocky in comparison. Futhermore, I use this pedal mostly in combination with the EHX Mel9 and the EHX String9 pedal, and that gives cathedral sounds....also in combination with the HallofFame 2 and/or the Strymon Bigsky reverb,

Thank you for saying that you dislike where the power is on those MXR pedals. Caitlinbread does the same thing, and I HATE it haha It makes it so hard to plan your pedalboard because of it

Great tips. Any chance you could share your preset for using a piezo? I also have a Fishman Powerbridge and run a stereo out of my guitar into the Guitar and Aux Ins. I've been doing that since the POD HD 500 days! But its always been a struggle to get a good 'acoustic' sound. Would love to see what you're doing. Thanks!

It is on the Customtone site. It’s called Too Far Gone. Basically, it hits a compressor, an acoustic guitar IR, the tube preamp model, a couple EQs and then some effects.

SOUNDS GREAT KARL! I'm a new helix user. are you running direct into your pa? frfr's for your own stage monitor?

Sorry for the wait. Just saw this. What I used depends on the environment. I play in an acoustic duo and do solo gigs where I'm direct to the PA. For full band shows I use powered PA Speakers (currently QSC K10s or 12s) for just my guitar and also send out to the PA. I put my speakers on the floor next to my vocal monitor so they don't interfere with FOH.

I had my doubts about this pedal because of the look, but I saw it used in a store and thought I would try it out. I was immediately impressed by the build quality, and the size was nice too. I tried it out and it did everything I was expecting, plus it had the pulsing light to indicate the speed, so I picked it up. The vibrato is kind of useless due to the genre I play in, but everything else works like a charm. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes an intuitive design in a small, high quality build package. This is the first chorus pedal I've owned and probably the last.

Guitar strings are similar to drum heads, I think. The wrong heads on an expensive drum still sound terrible. Good, appropriate, well-tuned, heads on a cheap drum can sound pretty awesome.

Hey! I'm about to do a similar mod to my Squier Baritone Cabronita. Do you know what size he drilled the tuner holes to?
@everythingtoexcess
@everythingtoexcess 4 күн бұрын
I think it was 10mm. The hot tip is to use a tapered reamer. There is a huge risk of splitting the headstock when you drill them out. Wanna know how I know that?
@gwendohshidt

@ lol yeah i ended up drilling with a smaller bit and then used a round file to get the rest of the way. definitely mangled her a little but oh well

How can I hook up the helix for my piezo?
@everythingtoexcess
@everythingtoexcess Жыл бұрын
Pretty easy. I split the piezo into the aux in and then I can process it separately. I got a pretty good acoustic IR, then add a compressor and the tube mic preamp model and whatever effects I want. There’s a thing about it in the video.
