@@codybess525 hey great question, and yes it should! I used it on my work Microsoft account and it did. All the needed information is there, it just didn’t show as nicely, like not all graphics downloaded correctly.

Printing Document Tabs kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmTCn4Z3ic-rn9U Quick instruction to get all tabs printed: you press the 3 dots in Google Drive (not in docs) and then go to quick view, then print from there. Hey there, I'm able to move them at least! I have been able to drag them up above the tab they were in to get them out of the subtab. Then dragging one back on a tab makes it into the subtab.

Hey thank you for the comment! I was pretty happy how those turned out! And I use Canva for my graphics / slides, and they have "frames" which allows you to add videos /photos / gifs into them. So I did a phone screen record, then added that inside their phone frame. The iPad background was an image and I just used a rectangle frame inside it to get that set. I used Adobe Premiere for my video editing, which allowed me to make a cleaner cut of the phone/iPad outline within it.

Hey there, Great question. From my testing, it is sharing the entire document or none of it at this point. That would be a really nice option to have! Even changing permissions like in Google Sheets to have certain Tabs be "view only" to some users could have a use as well. Hopefully an update sometime!

Hey that's a great question. I was messing around on mobile and do not see the option to add like you mentioned. So it seems like it isn't available for mobile devices at this point...Hopefully soon it'll be added!

What a helpful feature! I hope I can put it to good use. It has so much potential for a lot of people writing on the same document. Now I can just assign each of my teammates at school one tab and then we just compile everything on a different "final tab" for presentation with a different format, so we don't mess up each other's parts without having to manage two or more documents at a time!

Just got this today and I'm loving it. I've felt for a while that Google has a "missing middle" when it comes to notes, between a Keep note and a full on document, that you couldn't really structure in the same way as a OneNote notebook for example. I use the outline, and headers, and smart chips and so on, but that can be a bit fiddly. This absolutely fills in that missing middle. Game changer for me. I'll no longer be idly thinking about trying other note taking programs.

When you download Google Docs to Microsoft Word, does it only download that current tab or the whole documents?

Hey that’s an excellent question. I’ve been playing around more and found that both printing and exporting inside docs/ the tab ONLY does the tab. If you press the 3 dots in Google Drive, then you can print or export the entire doc with every tab. It does change the formatting slightly to include a page for each tab name, then whatever is on that tab.

Not very nice. The tabs in general should have been optional or they should allow easier use of the headings outline. Not everybody needs tabs and especially not everybody needs separate docs inside docs. Now it's floating there requiring you to think about what tab you are on and makes it much more complicated to use

That’s fair. And yeah I agree having the option to toggle between the two for cases like that. It’s silly that this is the option atm, but may be helpful if you are doing a long project, you can hide the element for the button by holding shift > right clicking > inspect, then find the div class for the button and hide it. It’ll highlight the button but it’s the one with “miniChapterSwitcherCore” You’d have to do this every time you refresh and open a doc. So not a great method but again if you are working on a project for a good chunk of time, may help out

Hey there, Yeah. I assume it is that you are getting lots of groups based on multiple selections and the order they selected them in? Unfortunately in this case, it's stored as [selected_item_1], [selected_item_2], [selected_item_3], etc. Are you hoping to get the same single selected items grouped, or just that if someone picks 1,2,3 - regardless of order - they are grouped? Either way, I do agree it would be nice to have the option to group by all items or singular items. Not sure if that will be something coming out, however. It's not the same question you have, but I did put a video out and showed a method to pull each item for a count. Sorry to hear about that. do you know the workspace type you have? This was the list I see on Google's website: support.google.com/docs/answer/12935277?hl=en#zippy=%2Cthese-workspace-editions-can-use-timeline-view Essentials Business Standard Business Plus Enterprise Essentials Enterprise Starter Enterprise Standard Enterprise Plus Education Fundamentals Education Standard Education Plus Business Starter Frontline I checked and it doesn't seem like it is a setting that can be turned off in the Google Admin Portal. This is the article I see for it: workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2023/05/new-capabilities-timeline-view-google-sheets.html If you do believe you have an account that should have this view, I would recommend checking in with Google's support to see. I think this shows how to contact support, although I've never personally asked them something so I can't say how helpful this would be. support.google.com/a/answer/1047213?product_name=UnuFlow&hl=en&visit_id=638635591938229500-1651767727&rd=1&src=supportwidget0&hl=en Hopefully something here helps troubleshoot this!

For some reason this only worked for me when, for the step shown at 08:16, I did NOT replace C3:AM3 to C3:AM1000. It only worked when I left it at $C3:$AM3. Otherwise it kept listing the full list of dropdown items and not the filtered list. But maybe I am doing something else wrong. Either way, thank you for this!

Huh interesting! Glad you got it to work! I was testing it and the $C3:$AM3 works and probably is the more sure-proof method! The range locks columns in and goes by rows as you pull it down. The way I showed did work as long as there wasn’t anything in that range before setting up the data validation range down to 1000. If there were different departments/ names on it before adding it seems to pull all names on it as you said! If that happened I was able to just clear the names then it worked as expected. Either way thanks for commenting and glad you got it working as well!

Hmmm. Odd, no I don't think so, but also I am not seeing that still on my end (aka I still get new rows added like the video). Do you happen to have hidden or grouped row by it? that was the only way I could make my table not automatically format to table when I type with what looks like the next row. Otherwise do you happen to be using a different web browser than Chrome? I just know from others Firefox specifically didn't work well with these tables. Otherwise perhaps an update to the browser and /or computer? Sorry not much help probably but hopefully gives a few ideas!

I need help getting a second table exactly like the first one to be to the right or left of the original one. I need the table names to be Spring 2024 and Fall 2024, and I want them on the same tab, but scrollable to the right. How the heck can you "insert" a second table next to an existing one.

Hey there, great question. It took a bit, but if you highlight the cells you want as the second "Fall 2024" table, then go to Format > Convert To Table, it worked for me to have two different tables together. If you type before formatting them as a table, it just automatically adds to the first table (which is I assume what you had happened as well)! Hope that helps!

Yeah, Mobile isn't updated yet unfortunately. Not sure if/when it will be. I was hoping it would when the full roll out would happen. I did find that if you add a ", " (comma space) between answers, you can get it to select the two, but kind of an annoying workaround.

Hey that's a great question. I had to spend some time testing some things out, and ultimately that isn't a feature with the tables or the Group by View, however it would be a great feature to be added! That said, the easiest thing I found to do this with would be making a pivot table of the table of data and then grouping it by whatever category. I know not the solution to your question exactly, but you can make a pivot table and count with it. Hopefully helps answer your question, feel free to reply if you had questions on it.

Sorry to hear that! The Google blog says September 5th is the scheduled release date for workspace. Not sure if you are using a workspace account or personal? Hopefully it’ll show up for you this week sometime! Only other things I can think of to try is another browser / Chrome or if you are using mobile that doesn’t support it as of now. For browsers, I know Firefox had issues with the new table feature so if you happen to be using Firefox then potentially could be the issue? Chrome should be the one that would work with it, so if you’re using that I think you just have to wait a bit unfortunately to see if/when the option is available to you.

@@SalAbraham7 Hey there, I wasn’t able to get it by following your directions or even the directions on Google’s article, unfortunately. It seems their instructions are outdated from what I see. That said, I was able to, on another account, watch this video to get subtitles auto translated to other languages (including Spanish). I turned on the Closed Captioning button, then hit the settings, then subtitles then auto-translate. That gave numerous languages including Spanish. Not sure if you are able to see that on your side? Hopefully that works for you / others!

No problem! And no, you would just need a Google account with sheets access for this basic series and the intermediate series! I made these video lessons for any type of accounts. I do have some videos that show features only in Google workspace, but it’s in another playlist and I try to make it clear if it is workspace only feature.

Hey there, yes you should be able to have multiple tables in a sheet tab! I know some have issues with them if they are close, as they cannot overlap. So just be mindful that they aren’t too close if you need to add more columns or rows. You’ll need to highlight the area you want and right click > format as table. Or use the menu bar option in formatting > format as table. Hope this helps!

Is there a way to add information above the table? When I add info and then insert a table; it seems to either insert the table over the information or deletes that information altogether.

Hey, so is this if you have a preexisting unformatted table of data, and when you press "insert table" it goes over the information? If so, I think you need to select the range you want to convert, right click, then select "format as table". Hopefully that is the question, sorry if I misunderstood!

but, in query function it do not work with "=query(Table1[#All], "SELECT Talbe1[full_name], Talbe1[Department],..."). Is there any way?

Hey there, yes instead of using the Table1[full_name] as the SELECT statement, you would either need to use the column number. So Something like =QUERY(Table1[#ALL],"SELECT Col1,Col2,..." OR you can use whatever the Column letters are. So, =QUERY(Table1[#ALL],"SELECT A,B,..." For QUERY, it can only can use the table as the data to query from. Hopefully this helps for your question! Another thing if you are using it with FILTERS, or you don't want the header row, I just saw you can reference just "Table1" which does everything except the header row. Which matches what the Table1[first_name] has been doing. Just in case you didn't use FILTER due to mismatched sizes.

Hello! I have a question. When I put a table under another one and I keep writing in the table above (I mean I keep adding rows), the table below is not scrolled, it starts to overwrite the information. Do you know how to solve this? I hope I have explained myself well. Thanks!

Hey there. Yes that is expected behavior, assuming you are just typing below it and the table range expands down to that row you are writing on. It doesn't automatically add rows as you go down, but instead formats that row to the table. So you would need to insert more rows - either right click the row number > insert row, or you can use the keyboard shortcuts: MAC: Ctrl + Option + i, press r then b PC: in Google Chrome: Alt + i, then w PC in other browsers: Alt + Shift + i, then w That said, I would recommend using a new sheet for a new table, or have them in different columns, assuming more rows would be added compared to more columns. That's probably the easiest way, but also know depending on the setup may not be ideal. Hope something here helps!

Thanks for the video :) loads of helpful stuff, I was wondering though if you know whether it's possible to edit the placeholders in the table. For example I would like to have the default entry in a date column be the end date of a project, then edit it to a closer date if required.

Hey, thanks glad it was helpful to you! As for your question, it seems like placeholder are not editable at this point unfortunately. This is assuming the placeholders like ## under a column that is a number, or m/d/yyyy for dates. I did check quick and on support.google.com/docs/answer/14239833?hl=en&sjid=3831749139336395473-NC the article sort of confirms this, although not specifically to your question: "For some column types, placeholder chips are auto populated to allow for easy data entry. To turn off placeholder chips for a column". To me, the auto populated makes it sound like it is more meant to give a quick view to users on what should be entered in the columns. You could put that in a feature request as that would be something I see could be useful to others! A potential alternative solution could be adding a data validation rule to only allow dates in a range of dates or before/after a specific date. Hi. Is it possible to import the table to another spreadsheet using ARRAYFORMULA with all the features (dropdown, checkboxes) still intact ? I discovered that you can import the table with all the features to another sheet within fhe same spreadsheet file with this: =ARRAYFORMULA(Table1). But I can't find the formula to import the table to another spreadsheet

​@@matttechtidbitsat 16:12 you sprinkled "j" over the sheet while moving your cursor. Your right index finger falls on the "J" key when it's on the home row. So, you must have used your left hand to use your mouse, which would be convenient to place to the left. Otherwise, if you were to use your right hand to use your mouse and spam a letter, your left hand wouldn't have troubled to reach the "J" key; you would have just pressed "F" key. I really felt like Sherlock.

Hey Great question, from my knowledge right now, (and checking the Release Notes developers.google.com/apps-script/docs/release-notes ) there doesn't seem to be a way to reference the table other than what we'd do previously with getRange or referencing cells. Hopefully Google will add that soon. Using the "send feedback" may help speed that up if enough people request it!

Hello, whenever I perform any operation on a checkbox or a boolean value, I consistently get an error. For example, if cell A1 has a checkbox and I use =COUNTIF(A1, TRUE) in cell B1, cell B1 will display #ERROR!. The same happens if I directly write TRUE or FALSE in cell A1. It seems like my Google Sheet doesn't handle boolean values, any idea?

Hey thanks for watching, sorry to hear that one isn't working. A few of things I can think of to try and see what may be going on: 1. can you use =a1 and does it pull either TRUE or FALSE? If so, then the cell reference would be correct and shows what you would look for when the checkbox is selected or not. 2. regions differ with delimiters so instead of the comma ( , ) between A1 and TRUE does a semicolon ( ; ) work for you? so, =COUNTIF(A1;TRUE) 3. I am not sure if you are hoping to count all checked boxes in column A, the COUNTIF syntax is a range, so your current formula would show only a count of 0 or 1 since it is only a single cell (a1) if you used a range like =COUNTIF(A1:A100,TRUE) this should count all cells within A1 to A100. 4. If these don't work, could you hover over the error to see what it reads? That can help hone in what the specific error is. Hope one of these helps!

​@@matttechtidbits Thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment. I finally found the problem ! By default, the display language on my Google Sheet is in French (because i'm french 😀) , so I specified to always use the function names in English. However, since the regional settings were set to France, the argument separators are different. For example, =COUNTIF(A1, TRUE) should be =COUNTIF(A1; TRUE).
