Hi, I found your channel. I have recently got into fountain pens. I just have a couple of pens i.e. Parket, Flair, and Housar Pens. Park quink ink. lamy is super expensive in India like 3k. If I am looking for roller ball pen ink (or gel pen) consistency, which ink would your recommend? Also, have you tried water proof inks?

There was some drama in the fp world last year (?) over Kaweco claiming some infringement of their rights over their faceted caps on the Sports. They registered Moonman as a trademark in Europe forcing the Chinese company to change its name for the non-Chinese markets. (Their OG name isn't affected.) It was hotly debated on r/FountainPens at the time. I'll still buy Moonman/Majohn pens as knock-around pens. I also own a Delike Alpha brass pocket pen.

The reason they rebranded to Majohn from Moonman was because Kaweco trademarked the name "Moonman". To Kaweco's credit all these Chinese companies are knocking off their designs (and other European pen makers) and it seems aren't working with them to settle IP disputes

I am very happy with Unomax Brio fountain pen within Rs 100 and Unomax Icon fountain pen it is 0.5 fountain pen and also Unomax Java within Rs 50 it is also smooth and I purchased Unomax Express Gold Fountain Pen yesterday which is very smooth with good Ink flow also

Moonman/Majohn now has three retractable fp in their portfolio. The A1 with a metal body which comes in two variations (with a clip vs. clipless with a roll stop for people who don't along with the clip) which I see as the Capless/Vanishing Pilot equivalent. The A2 with a plastic faceted body which is closer to the slimmer and lighter Decimo. And the A3 which is modeled after the Capless LS (with the quieter clicking mechanism). All parts are 100% compatible with Pilot VP pens including the special alloy (i.e. stainless steel) nib units from Endless Pens and 14k gold nibs. It took them a while, but Majohn now offers other nib sizes after only selling EF nibs (and coming from Japanese pens EF for me means 0.3) The converter is easier to fill and clean than Pilot's Con-40, but refilling the cartridge is still my preferred method. They make fairly affordable test balloons before deciding whether to shell out the money for a Pilot VP or Decimo. Some of the A1 options look more expensive than they are. I have a matte black one and a silver striped one.

It’s a pretty low maintenance pen. How long the refill lasts depends on how much you would use it. Just standard fountain pen hygiene I’d say 👍🏽

Sailor nibs are notoriously tough to interchange. I wouldn’t recommend too much experimentation

Great vid. Funny thing: I've purchased 2 montblanc fountain pens in the last 6 weeks, the 149 and a classique around the world in 80 days. Both caps dropped on the floor of hard ceramic tiles within hours of opening them brand new. The 149 cap because I posted it to write with but was too gentle posting it and it flew off. And the classique because it doesn't post on the around the world in 80 days model, so the cap was just laying on the table and eventually got knocked to the ground. Luckily, neither cap was damaged (to the naked eye), but I learned my lesson about securing the caps. Anyway, I love that green color of the ink you used. Reminds me american dollar bills. I'll probably search for it buy some myself. Cheers.

Happy new year, as always an awesome review! I have two minor wishes: Could you actually take the pens out of the boxes? The empty box always looks a bit ... empty ;-). And I would really love seeing you write some lines with each pen.

These used to be made in the UK. but they stopped in 2012. The nib unscrews from the section and actually will fit in a Sonnet! It's a very good pen for the money.

The 144 is an older model that is discontinued, it was similar to the 145 except it had a snap cap and was fitted with a metal section ring. The 145 nowadays is being called the "Classique" by Montblanc.

It’s great. No doubt. But so is a Rotring Tikky. I buy these expensive pencils but always end up using the workhorse Tikky 1.0mm for drawing, for it’s comfort factor and lighter weight. That’s only me, and my purposes/preference. But this 600 is such a sublime design and high quality. 👌
