Thats a nice looking V man! and you are right those Roswell pickups sound very good. I got into the pickup swapping game and then I started fiddling with my EQ pedal if I wasn't happy with the pickups and 9 times out of ten I get the tone I am happy with, I have noticed that changing out the pots for better quality ones can make a massive difference, I have put CTS ones in a few Harley Benton guitars, but like you I had to route out the cavity, I 3D printed the template but I had to cut around the poly clear coat with a scalpel so that it didn't crack, Thats a stressful job, so the last time I came across a small cavity I got some good quality Korean 500K Alpha pots that are pretty good. I always wanted a Les Paul with a V headstock , for the straighter strings, I guess I will have to buy a V and an LP kit and swap the necks around as long as they are compatible.

Dude! That would be a crazy project! Would love to see it. I think the pots seem to mostly improve my experience in playing a guitar where a pickup can improve your jumping off point for sound, but I also think that more budget friendly pickups get a bad wrap to a criminal degree, for sure. Tesla pups and Roswell pups are really really good compared to budget pickups from 20-30 years ago. Hope you make your Frankenstein!

It's a bit different playing at home by yourself. I brought my GTX100 to band practice and it was completely drowned out by the drums, vocals and bass it just doesn't have the power and it's not really meant to. Lets be real it's a single speaker combo amp. It could be ok for a gig but it would need to be mic'd up or patched into the PA

@@Sean_Plays_Guitar It can definitely work if you plug it into the PA Mixing Board instead of just using it's own 12" speaker. I patched it into the mixing board at band practice and it made a huge difference. But that being said a lot of the presets wont work well. When the volume is cranked up they get really distorted and horrible sounding. It takes a bit of trial and error

I currently have an old Cort flying V. The neck is coming loose, and the laminated body is starting to delaminate. It came with active pickups factory and someone put a Kahler tremolo on it. I'm about to try taking the set neck off and gluing the neck and body. If that fails, I'm thinking about one of these kits to put the electronics and the tremolo on.

Dude! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this! Seems like a pretty easy breasy setup! Yeah, this is basically how I have it set up too. I don't have any other pedals, only the Pod Go, so simpler, I guess... Also I typically don't go into my interface through this stuff. I will typically just disconnect and go direct into the interface for use with Bias FX 2... but you just gave me an idea... maybe I could do something like... Pod Go>GTX>Bias FX.... I don't really do recording yet... but I might do some of that soon. Silly question, but when you go to the interface, does sound still come out of the GTX, or is it coming out of monitors attached to your interface and circumvents your amp speaker? I guess mainly you are just going into the interface for only recording?
@Sean_Plays_Guitar
@Sean_Plays_Guitar 4 ай бұрын
I still get speaker volume out of the GTX too! Or I can turn that all the way down if needed. It all works pretty well and easily. Though it took a bunch of fiddling to get it right. Glad I could help. I am not familiar with Bias FX at all so I won’t be much help there 😅 No problem at all man. Happy to do it bro!

Looks like the one I made, the body needed routing out to fit the pots. Mine was a body neck only build as well. I used same pickguard and had to drill for the bridge posts too. I was a lot of fit and fix to get it together, but it turned out great in the end. I was using up spare parts, I think we had the same idea, ha ha. I did Nitro paint, yellowed white for a 1970's look.

Hey Sean! I have the Pod Go and the GTX as well... Couple of questions - Are you going through the effects loop or straight into the GTX? Can you list out your signal chain? What have you found to be the best way to go about this? 4 cable, straight in? effects loop? blah blah blah. Also are you using an amp from the PG nd just using a blank/studio pre-amp model in the GTX, or are you using an amp from the GTX and disabling the amp/cab in the PG? Just curious what you think the best way to utilize this gear is?
@Sean_Plays_Guitar
@Sean_Plays_Guitar 4 ай бұрын
*cracks knuckles* All right buddy. Let's get nerdy: Working backwards from the computer to the fuzz pedal, I use the XLR from the amp to my interface. Then I go straight from the PodGo to the amp (I know this doesn't support some of the stereo FX but it is way more useable in switching from using amp models on the PG to amp models on the GTX). Then I am plugging my pedals directly into the guitar input of the PodGo. This means I am giving up my ability to go wireless, but the fuzz pedal sounded like shit through the FX Loop so I decided it was a decent trade off. In terms of signal pathing, I am kind of treating the GTX as my final stage (Delay and reverb FX bank) so I can have most of the delays and reverbs happening on the the GTX as well as my noise gate. Then modulation happens at the PodGo level, then my overdrive section being pedals. The nice part about doing it that way is that no matter which platform you use for your amp model, pod go or GTX, you have everything in its correct place so nothing gets weird sounding. I will do a quick video with a picture drawing or something and post it soon if you think that would help. And I can demo the way that I switch between settings to get to my fender modeler and PodGo amps respectively. Hopefully that answers questions? LOL. Thanks for watching!
@Sean_Plays_Guitar

Aso yes, I disable amp and cab on the PG to use the Fender amps, and when I use the PODGO amps, I switch to a tube preamp setting on the GTX :)

@@MajorUpgrade Yeah man! I will totally do a little video and tag you in it. Simplicity, in this case, seems to produce still great tone and the greatest amount of flexibility.
