Hi there, Bernd and I (Silvia) have read your question, but we're unsure about what exactly you mean. Could you please provide a bit more context? If you're using a regular tablet and the "Portrait Orientation" is turned OFF, the app screen should automatically rotate to landscape mode when you rotate the tablet. However, if you're using a mini-tablet, the video display might be too small to support this feature.

@@magicplan hi, on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, the app seems to think the device is a phone rather than a tablet and so the aspect ratio is wrong and controls are very different. It also says 'Estimates are only available on a device with a larger screen'. Can't find an option to change this.

The obvious issue is if there are contents blocking the corners and edges of the rooms. Then the LiDAR will be inaccurate.

Hi 🙋♀️ magicplan is an app for mobile devices, available for iOS 10 (and above) and Android devices with a gyroscope or running ARCore. Since the camera capture option depends on both the software and the hardware of the device you use, the way the option works varies between devices. Have you considered trying a different method to create your rooms, such as the LiDAR Auto-Scan feature? It could be faster than connecting the laser and measuring each wall individually, though it ultimately depends on your preference. Have you already created the other rooms? If the room has a very irregular shape, I recommend starting with that room first using the LiDAR scan or the "define corners" option. Once you've done that, you can easily add the next room near the closet. If you'd like, you can email us at [email protected] with a screenshot of the room's shape or any specific details. We can then create a screen recording to show you the best approach for your room and provide personalized assistance. 🙂 Silvia

You can only import JPG files of a previously created project, in order to draw on it and digitalize the floor plan. help.magicplan.app/import-and-digitalize-an-existing-floor-plan If you then created the project in 3D (in magicplan) and need to take a picture of it, you could simply take a screenshot of your mobile device screen. Would it be an option?

At least on Android (Samsung s21) the app does not behave like in here. It doesn't get green when you point to a corner, doesn't recognize windows/doors, you have to manually add the dimensions taping the phone and scanning and is impossible to get an accurate area, if you manage to even finish. Unusable. What device is being used in this video?

Actually, this is because of the sloped ceiling. 😅 In the current version of magicplan it is not possible to add sloped ceilings. You can only add a flat roof as an extra floor and you can also indicate the different elevations within a room with an annotation. Hi! magicplan works well even in spaces that aren't completely empty. If there’s furniture in the room, the app can still accurately capture the space, although it's ideal if larger objects aren't blocking the walls. If you're using the LiDAR Auto-Scan feature on iOS, it’s particularly effective at scanning both the room and the furniture at once. I hate that people don't realize that this app, as well as virtually any other room scanning app, merely integrated Apple's RoomKit SDK. These developers did nothing special, and they all act like they went out of their way to develop this feature specially for us. Im not certain if MagicPlan or any other devs charge a subscription for this feature, but it's pathetic if they do.

Hi, it’s possible that the export format needs to be activated, which might be why it’s not generating. Before creating the 3D models, tap on 'Configure' next to that option. Check if the dot next to the OBJ file is green. If it’s not, tap on it to turn it on, then select 'Done' in the upper right corner. After that, try generating the 3D export again, and it should appear. If you need further assistance, feel free to email us at [email protected], and we’d be happy to provide visual guidance.🙂 Silvia

How do i scan roof surfaces, dormers and roof windows? Magicplan dont recognize them. I use Magicplan daily at Work. The workflow in 50% empty rooms without roof surfaces is ok, but it feels like pain when it comes to rooms in the roof flor or rooms with a lot of stuff in it.

Unfortunately, in the current version of magicplan it is not possible to add sloped ceilings. Tap on the Edit option of the object and insert the elevation). However, our developers are actively working on this feature.🙏🏻

It really depends on your needs. We do have many German contractors successfully using Android devices. However, if you want to take advantage of LiDAR technology, you’ll need an iOS device, as there are currently no Android devices with built-in LiDAR. Hey @manieek73, currently, the Auto-Scan feature that uses LiDAR is only available on iOS because Android devices don’t have built-in LiDAR sensors yet-that’s something that would need to be implemented by Google. But Android users aren’t left out! You can still create floor plans manually in magicplan by drawing the layout directly in the app. Plus, you can pair it with a Bluetooth laser meter for accurate measurements, making it a solid option until similar features are available on Android. After creating the floor plan manually, you can also mark the sloped ceilings as shown in our video or follow the steps mentioned in this guide: help.magicplan.app/how-can-i-add-sloped-ceilings-and-roofs If you need any help or have more questions, feel free to reach out to our support team at [email protected] ✌

Hi @3jsjeosn! Thanks for reaching out. Currently, the Auto-Scan feature that uses LiDAR is only available on iOS because LiDAR sensors haven’t been implemented on Android devices yet. This is something on Google’s end, as they haven’t integrated LiDAR technology into Android hardware. That said, you can still create accurate floor plans on Android with magicplan! You can manually draw the layout in the app and use a Bluetooth laser meter for precise measurements. It’s a reliable alternative until similar scanning features become available on Android devices. I was excited to install this app to test out on my Pixel after watching the video. Sadly, it was a totally different experience than what is demonstrated here. Will you please add the ability to move points/corners/lines while in the AR mode? It sucks to map out an entire room only to find out once you're done that one point was off (typically behind a piece of furniture, tub, or cabinet that can't be moved) only to have to redo the entire thing. If I could long press on a line and drag it to the proper point when I see the issue it would make edits a snap. Instead, it wants me to click a point int he line to add a door or window or something. Maybe click can remain the same but long pressing the same line gives you the ability to move it? So far, with limited testing, that's my primary sticking point. New Pixel 9 is on the way but it also doesn't have LiDAR, sadly.

Hi there, The Pixel devices do not have the LiDAR feature, as you noticed. For this to work you need iOS 17 and an Apple Pro device, because there is an extra sensor built in these devices that is needed for the scan to work.
