Thanks for the tip. Mosquito magnet is not very much help if you contact them, all they want is to get more money out of you. I only found out that you are supposed to clean it with a CO2 cartridge by watching you tube videos. Nowhere in mosquito magnet's literature does it tell you to do this, again they just want your money. FLY NAVY!!!

two quick questions. First, do you know what the value is for the thermistor? ie 10K or 100K and second, do you have a picture of the igniter? ie shape and resistance? It seems that failed igniters are not uncommon and virtually impossible to source. Rebuilding might be the way to go rather than using a bic flame thrower for start up! :) Great Video! I'm sitting here with bites all over my legs/arms and a Defender I want to put back into service!
@sscustomsbystevesciandra6687 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, that repair was quite some time ago and I don’t have any pictures, but if I remember correctly, the resistance value of the semester is sort of a relevant as long as it changes. I believe I set my meter at 2000 ohms to get my reading, so it’s most likely above 1000. Obviously you probably did some Google searches. You might try eBay to source parts. E replacement parts seems to be a good source for odd items.

I am about to give up. I have tried almost everything. Solenoid works fine. Gas is coming. I am able to ignite the gas with matches. The ignitor works, the termistor as well. I have opened and inspected the chamber. Nothing wrong there. I got hold of the electric schematic, and the only thing I can come up with, is that the 12V supply shows 11.75V, but I don´t think that is the problem.

It sounds like if you can light the propane with a match and the system stays running then your igniter, even though it appears to be working is not igniting the propane.

I'm ready to do mine this weekend and I'm using Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating. I've done the cleaning & sanding but I bought regular primer. Should I use that or will the bedliner bond better by itself? Don't want to defeat the purpose. Or should I go buy the plastic bond?

I recently followed your video. When I changed the thermistor plastic screw and cleaned it, and then added the metal screw as you suggested, it still would not work. So, I took out the metal screw and rigged the thermistor with two-sided tape that would prevent any with the metal body AND added two well placed zip ties on the metal housing but before the fan unit, and voila it works fie. I think the plastic screw is to prevent grounding of the thermistor to the metal body. BTW, I also changed the propane nipple which wad filthy and clogged. The thermistor was super calcified and I was able to clean it with a metal brush and some sandpaper.

At that time I did not use plastic bond, it’s your preference. Truth be told, back then a black roof was not that easy to come by and not cheep. Today a factory black roof is only like $120 so it’s not even worth the trouble of painting them. Unless you just want a project to do.

So I don’t recall if the cart had gears but I know for sure you are going to have to add a high performance clutch system that will act like gearing. The stock clutch is going to max out to soon so you will need to upgrade that. And make sure you don’t have or adjust any governor that might be on the engine. You can do a clutch spring upgrade or gears, clutch is easier.

II showed this video to a friend of mine who does custom car paint. Real expensive paint jobs. He has been painting car and plastic for over 30 years and he cracked up when he heard you say you scratch the surface to prep it. He wants to know who told you to do that. He said the "proper way" to do it is to pre-prep the plastic by first washing it then after it dries, apply a generous amount of rubbing alcohol on the surface. Then coat the surface with a plastic primer. Then sand the primer. Then paint the surface with a good grade paint, not something out of a spray can. Your way would seem to work if someone just wants their roof painted but it won't like like a car\s plastic bumper. I mean, its just how nice do you want your roof to look. He did say if you don't want go through all that work to do it right, then just at least put one can of primer on it versus scratching the hell out of the surface. No need to even sand the primer if you don't want to.
@sscustomsbystevesciandra66874 жыл бұрын
Since you and your friend have so much time on your hands to pump the chest and attack everyone on KZbin I have a suggestion. Call all the golf cart owners (who have invested $0-4000) and tell them the proper way to paint there roof is to spend $800-$1000 with a super experienced egotistical custom painter who specializes in $15k paint jobs. For the more expensive cart owners you can convince them that a perfect $1000 paint job on there roof that is going to get scratched from use is a better idea than just buying a factory black infused plastic one for about $300. The Bedliner look on a golf cart, ( on average, a $3500 off road toy) is popular, cheep and easy for the do-it yourselfer. It can also be touched up to look fresh anytime in the future with the simple squirt of a can. But I like the idea of wet sanding the perfect roof and spraying another layer of base coat clear coat on it each time it gets all scratched up better. 🤙
@sscustomsbystevesciandra66874 жыл бұрын
So you want the average person to buy a spray gun, primer, base coat and clear coat just to paint a roof of a golf cart???? Also, I want you to get your hands on a golf cart roof and have your buddy do his magic. Then take your finger nail to it!!! I’m sure your guy will put extra hardner in the paint to prove me wrong but you know, he’s the expert.

I know the circuit board checks out ok & field magnet on lpg flow valve works as required for start up ! I even had this split in two to clean out all the crud in chamber while waiting for new ignitor ! Any tips other than a new one?? Thanks & great video BTW !
@sscustomsbystevesciandra66874 жыл бұрын
So it’s been awhile since I worked on mine but condensation would indicate that there is a problem with propane flow. The liquid in the tank is converting to gas to fast causing the condensation. Maybe check your tank valve and fitting to make sure it’s not flowing to fast. The last thing I had to do was change the board because it would not fire up. Last year I think.

Well I'm not really sure what hardware you are referring to. Assuming you are talking about all the nuts and bolt then just match what you need to replace. They are not specific to a golf carts, they are just nuts and bolts you can buy anywhere like Lowe's. Generally you can reuse most of the hardware unless you are dealing with sever rust that can't be cleaned and painted. As for the rivets to hold the body and bushings for the suspension you can buy the kits on eBay. Hope this helps. P.S. I'm fortunate to be one of those guys that rarely if ever needs to look at a manual to build, fix or repair things of any kind, not sure a manual for a 01 txt is going to tell you much. fell free to call me if you have questions. 727-773-6232
