Hi coach. For beginner-intermediate level who are getting coaching lessons, do you have any good rubbers suggestions for forehand? I use h3n provincial blue sponge on my Petr Kolber blade, but I don't boost it because it is time-consuming and will prevent me from playing some days so I am thinking of switching rubber

Could you explain how to do a backhand flick at the intermediate level? Most pros put a lot of pace on their backhand flicks and at the club level, we do not have this level of precision so it doesn’t feel realistic to copy. Curious how you would teach a safe, higher margin of safety backhand flick to a club level player.
@rudycramer22510 күн бұрын
Backhand flicks come in various methods. You can flick using the top of the ball for topspin or to the left hand side of the ball if it has underspin. The trick is you have to curl your wrist and come up the side of the ball using a very quick and full wrist motion. Watch Shunsuke Togami. He nearly uses this as his serve return on any serve, if they are not so short.

Hello coach! have a question: Is the receive for reverse tomahawk and sidespin the same? Is the reverse sidespin and tomahawk receive the same? Is BH, tomahawk, and FH pendulum topspin receive the same? Same for underspin if we do it with BH, FH pendulum, or with tomahawk? Is it true that if we do a combination of spin like side underspin then the underspin is more priority so you receive it like a pure underspin or there are different angles?

I think it depends how far back from the table you are.. if up close yes.. if back from table half a meter most players elbows rise slightly AND the stroke is FORWARD not all wrist off to the side..
@heminghu143417 күн бұрын
It depends on how much time and space you have overall. Sometimes you can stand close to the table and an opponent can give you a ball that has height and time. Then you also play that ball with twist and more body

Hello Heming. Was depressed after a tournament, but all of a sudden after watching this video and the last three, my fh topspin improved more in 1 hour than it did in 3 years. I can't thank you enough. My little tip: (it's related to the arm movement video that Heming released a few days back. Heming talks of using the wrist and shows the arm action without moving the body) Don't manually extend the wrist back at the start of the stroke. Instead, extend your arm to the starting position of the topspin; Visualise the part on your wrist just below your thumb (Heming points to it too); keep your arm and hand LOOSE; Now whip the part you visualised towards the end position. You should feel your hand yank backward because of the inertia. This cue has helped me keep my entire arm loose but get that yank on my wrist. This is what Heming was trying to explain if I'm not wrong. This alone has exponentially improved my shots power and spin.

Brett got me to change to a hiromoto backhand. Right hip back a bit pulls elbow back a bit, then punch like with wrist flick action. People have trouble blocking it. Any comments on this backhand?
@heminghu143417 күн бұрын
Brett Clarke is one of these very very unique and rare species who is often always correct with these things. I know what concept he is talking about and I think it’s great. But again, it’s not applicable for every single ball. It’s one effective way to do it against medium fast type balls.
@heminghu143417 күн бұрын
It wouldn’t work against balls where you have heaps of time against a slow ball, as you have no incoming pace to counterpunch the ball with
@mauricetate357118 күн бұрын
What do u feel about the Chinese method of bent arm takeback and straightening the arm on the forward swing. Brett Clark seems to like this method. Also, I find turning the left knee for hip rotation but keeping the right knee pointing forward seems to enable a more dynamic push off the ground? Thanks
@heminghu143417 күн бұрын
Again I think it’s good, it creates a good wind up before straightening your arm and snapping it hard, this is good with the assumption that one can already use their fingers and wrist correctly to spin the ball in the first place. With the knee turning, let’s just simplify it and spin the knees hard at the same time as the arm swing, then power from body and racket DO happen simultaneously rather than be disconnected
@mauricetate357117 күн бұрын
Like brett, i love the technical side of table tennis. Try both right knee actions on a robot and see the difference. For me, not turning the right knee allows a lot more explosive action as the knee is closer to the body and it can drive the hip rotation faster. I got this from a Chinese coach.

@@heminghu1434 I mean sidespin as in receiving, let's say you are receiving a long pendulum serve to your backhand side. To go against the spin you would have to hit the right side of the ball while to go "with" the spin you would have to hit the left side of the ball (which would go to the opponents backhand side). More or less these types of ideas and theories that professionals use and are not so talked about
