"UPDATE: Scott's Law"?....oh, you mean the law mandating that ALL VEHICLES in the lane next to the "emergency" must move out of their lane completely? Yes, that's it. FYI: Scott's law is intended to protect emergency personnel from motorists at emergency scenes and is named after Chicago Fire Lieutenant Scott Gillen who was struck and killed Dec. 23, 2000 while responding to a traffic accident. --- So now ALL CARS/TRUCKS/VEHICLES must exit their lane for an "roadside emergency"? There's a MUCH safer and much wiser solution that will work fluidly. Maybe we all should completely STOP in the road, until the emergency is cleared. (humor) I say that because it makes more sense than having ALL vehicles change lanes, which GREATLY increases the opportunity for a collision. Having HUNDREDS of vehicles change lanes creates HUNDREDS of unnecessary dangerous high speed lane changes. There's a much more safe course of action to take. (Don't even try the "but if Scott's law just saves one life, it's worth it" rant. Not true at all, never. SOLUTION: Once a driver in the closest lane to the emergency realizes there's an "emergency" ahead, changing lanes becomes temporarily illegal for him/her/they/them/he/she/it/whatever. The drivers in the closest lane should STAY right in their same lane and gradually drop down to 1/2 the posted speed limit and NOT be allowed to change lanes until 1/2 mile past the incident. Now there's a solution that would actually work by both protecting the "emergency" people and not having HUNDREDS of vehicles in that lane change lanes but no, let's make ALL vehicles in that lane change lanes, greatly increasing opportunity for an accident. Mic drop.

It would be helpful to update this video with a descriptive title. There is no way to know what this is about without watching it.

Is there a way to add something? STOP if you CANNOT “Move over!” Into oncoming traffic on a TWO lane road? I was coming over a hill at night and saw a tow truck with bright yellow LED lights and slowed to 20mph in my lane on a two lane road. Where the truck driver had stopped to connect to a vehicle was totally blocking the view of a patrol car! Oncoming traffic was coming AT us, full speed, head on...over a double yellow line in the intersection; straight at us. We had NOWHERE to go and stopped while honking to alert the deputy. Can someone explain what to do when there is oncoming traffic that is not a highway four lane? Maybe slow or STOP until it is clear, to avoid additional accidents or injury to LEOs, rescue personal and tow truck drivers? Thank you for your help. Thank you for the amazing jobs you all do.
