Sounds like you put the blade on with the clipper running. You’re always supposed to put the blade on when the clipper is running. If you don’t you can damage the clipper. You can take the blade off with the clipper on or off. You will see this in the manual that comes with the clipper.

yes they are all mix and match in general. The guide/combs maybe not fit all brands tho.

You should try putting The Andis CeramicEdge Ultra Fine-Tooth cutter with 26 teeth on the OA blades and bigger . They make fading with the detachable blades very easy. The cutter blades that come on the are mainly for cutting bulk. If you try it out let me know what you think
