It still baffles me that the xpro series is $500 more even if they have less features than the xt. I'm guessing its nostalgia that they are banking on.

Since "value" was in the title, I thought you would mention the XC 35mm f/2. Same exact lens, but without the aperture ring and plastic replacing some of the metal-1/2 the price. But, you made a good case for the XF 35/2 (Which I own, BTW) and your clip had good production values.

The x-pro 1 and other cameras of the x-trans 1 and 2 generation has a jpg - rendering which is more punchy in the contrast and clarity. If you give the blacks +1 or +2 it will look more like the older cameras and a little contrast helps with the sharpness as well. If you have a little patience you will get much closer in general. But don´t touch the clarity option. It will create that stupid black-out after a photo.

The XPro3 is amazing and the video is great. With that said, I’m getting tired of reviews that keep discussing video. If you want a camera for video than get a one. The majority of people that own this camera use it for photography.

I use my Xpro 1 for night photography all the time. Pro Negative Standard and Monochrome are the best film simulations for iso of 3200 to 6400. But I don’t use the 35 f2 for night photography either. I use either my Mitakon 35mm 0.95 or a lens with a 1.4 aperture.

You mentioned color cast being an issue with the Xpro3, vs. the Xpro1, but I don't see any issues with any of the photos you've posted. Absolutely gorgeous images throughout this video. Love your style and processing. Somehow, your images have a sort of Tarantino vibe about them. Beautiful work.

Hi Matthew, thank you for your compliments. I'm very particular when it comes to color, and any camera can produce great colors once edited. My complaint was more of the SOOC colors. The Xpro1 auto-WB and how it renders colors to me is far superior than any of the modern fujis. I also find editing the files much easier to get them where I want. Again, if you're editing and spending time on working the files, then there shouldn't be any major issues. I have the same complaints with my Sony system, where the colors are not that nice straight out of the camera. Hope that helps!

One thing that surprised me as a new hobbyist (painter mostly interested in capturing scenes as I see them) was I bought one of those knockoff cheap ones which was quite good considering it was like 75 pounds. Image was pretty crisp and I knew that it wouldn't be quite as sharp and might have some artifacts especially in certain situations. However, when I bought the XC version of the 35mm from fuji for 200, I was happily surprisedthe colour rendition is a huge step up. The photos now look very close to the scene in terms of color. I would say to anyone who started out with a dirt cheap lens, make the step up to the xc 35mm for that bit of extra cash, you won't regret it.

if I were to have a cropped sensor camera, and want to shoot at 35mm, would I have to go for a lens that is like 23mm to get 35mm on the camera? I’m new to photography and I still can’t figure out this idea, any help would be appreciated!
@Gmakamian
@Gmakamian 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Yes that is correct. For apsc cameras, you want to divide the focal length by 1.53. In this case to get 35mm: 35 / 1.53 = 22.8 which the closest lens is the 23mm. Hope that helps, and enjoy your new journey in photography!

Love this lens. It performs very well in low light. I used to shoot burlesque performances and used this lens a lot. I did sell this lens to get the 1.4, which is great, but the focus speed and accuracy in low light on the F2 is actually better.

I’d love your thoughts on something. I’m a professional headshots and portrait shooter, studio and natural light. I have an XT3 and a x100V, and I’ve fallen in love with the rangefinder style of the X100. So much so that I’m considering selling the XT3 to get the XPRO3. I’d love your thoughts on that. I actually love the idea of the “hidden” LCD, and I love the connection with my subject when I look through a rangefinder style camera. It’s just intimate and I feel the camera get out of the way. It feels good. I should mention that I have no problem with the XT3, it’s great and reminds me of the old Nikon FE that I trained on as a teen. I just feel a deep connection to rangefinder style. I trained on film, shooting since I was 13. I’m 51 and feel like the XPRO is calling to me, but unsure how it is for portraits. Would you feel confident to have the XPRO as a main portrait and studio camera? I also very occasionally shoot family portraits, engagement sessions and the very occasional small wedding. My work is all about people and human connection to clients. Thanks for any thoughts! I trust your expertise.

Hi Donavan. If we are strictly talking about photography, there is nothing that the XT3 can do that the Xpro3 can't. Although I recently sold my Xpro3, I would 100% recommend the camera if you enjoy the rangefinder style. And yes, there is something special about holding the xpro line (whether that's the looks of the camera or the way it feels). I definitely would say go for the Xpro3. The reason I sold my Xpro3 is because I have no problem shooting my Xpro1. Yes it's much slower and the EVF sucks, but that doesn't bother me for what I use the camera for, and it makes 0 financial sense to have the Xpro1, Xpro3 plus a Sony alpha system.

Have to ask.. regarding the focus issues.. are you in focus or release priority? If using BBF/AF-C it often defaults to release priority which will reduce hit rate.
