Did randy newman do the other arrangement? I'm trying to figure out everyone's part in this song. Side note: James Ingram and Michael Bolton have such similar voices.

Lyrics!! I never believed that there was a rainbow With a pot of gold at the end I'm much too smart for fairy tales like that Yet, here I am again I thought this time This time, we're gonna make it Why I thought so, I really don't know Maybe something in his eyes just told me so Something in his eyes Tell me lies, and I'll come runnin' I must have lost my mind I could close my eyes And tell you just exactly what's comin' Life's gonna turn just a little unkind Seems like everyone's sailing way out on the sea And I'm stuck here on the shore Sun's always shining, but it's never for me Why should I try anymore? Tell me lies, tell me lies I'll just keep right on going This time I've got to believe in the dream This time I've got to believe in his dream Credits Featuring Natalie Cole Produced By Steve Goldstein & Randy Newman Written By Randy Newman Release Date March 25, 1997

I just realized: If you play the Monsters, Inc. theme 4 semitones up, or play this song 4 semitones down, you'll realize they have the same chord progression. G - G7 - C - Cm - G - E7 - A7 - D7. I mean, of course they do. Both films were composed by Randy Newman. Only the songs in Cats Don't Dance.

There should be a nightcore version of “Our Time Has Come” from Cat’s Don’t Dance if someone on KZbin uploads it
@bigcupcake2421 Жыл бұрын
I just realized: This version of the song accompanied by electric synth and the movie version is accompanied by guitar and brass. So since this movie was made in 1997, the original version of the Our Time Has Come sounds like it was made in the 1990’s while the movie version was made in the 1930’s to 1940’s.

New Tech here, but it's a very interesting theory for sure. My assumption is that they were going for more of a gospel ring to it, akin to the show-stopping 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now'. Plus, this version only appears on the soundtrack, both the opening and closing credits use the film version, so this might have only really been created to get the song to radio frequencies, while also having a more wider appeal with it's use of instruments. It's still a good song, James are Carnie kind of make the song what it is, but I'm glad the film version was used instead.

This is the song I'll be singing to myself in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre when I finally move out to LA and fulfill my lifetime career in the entertainment business at last in the future.
