Tip, dont use pinewood for a fire. It takes a while to start burning and then burns quick whilst creating a lot of sparks. I’ve destroyed a tarp doing the same thing. You also had the tarp too near the fire plus the wind direction had them blowing straight at you. Always put your fire at least 2/3 meters away from your tarp or tent as when it burns down to ash, the embers are light enough to be easily blown in the wind. A lot more dangerous in summer time when things are much dryer. Even more important in a coastal or mountain area as the winds are typically stronger. You can patch the tarp and use it solely for the fire on a wet night. That way if it gets burned again you won’t mind as much. Besides, it’s likely stinking of smoke anyway.

A pity about your tarp, how many feet was the fire from your hammock tarp set up
@denireland30185 ай бұрын
It was approximately 2.5 metres away from the fire-camp. The wind changed direction and some woods produced more sparkles. It was alright though.

Thanks man. This is some new to me and I’m learning to do all the techniques. Thanks for your comments. 😂
@PhilCherry35 ай бұрын
Dude, You need to watch a whole lot of KZbin videos to learn how to use this tarp! First, in A-frame configuration (like your setup here) a person only needs 4 stakes & a good ridge line to create a weatherproof shelter. Other than the ridge line cordage, one only needs the actual hammock suspension to finish the setup. I’m not sure why you’re needing 4-6 ropes. While extra stakes would be helpful they are not necessary. The DD 3x3 is one of the best on the market. But I use my DD 4x4 much more than my 3x3. I like the extra coverage.
