They had better rooms and better sense of interior decoration than what we have in our era.

I've known Kirky since the 1970's and it's always felt run down and in desperate need of some love and attention. I know there's some nice housing areas but even there, around where the old Westermains Tennis Club used to be, you could count the really nice properties as less than 50. When you consider the location which has a superb backdrop of the Campsies, it really is a poor show from house builders and the council who have allowed the building of houses which resemble much of what was built behind the Iron Curtain after the war! There's a small area near Hillhead Parish Church which resembles something from Beirut. It always surprises me how the people are still chirpy and chatty despite living with such a grey and dull backdrop, especially when it's raining, which is more often than not! From the Miners to Smiths, from Ghiloni's to The Puffer, and The Redbrae to The Chase, sorry but it feels 3rd world!

Just a wee correction. The Waverley was built by A & J Inglis at Pointhouse, Glasgow and her Diagonal Triple Expansion steam engine was made by Rankin & Blackmore in Greenock, Scotland. A truely wonderful creation !!!

I’m guessing that isthe reconstructed Villa at Ancient Farm, Hampshire, as it looks like copy of Sparsholt Villa’s floor mosaic is just outside the Dining Room. (I.e. the whole Villa is a reconstruction of Sparsholt’s).

OR it could be the Villa reconstruction in ‘The Newt’ hotel grounds, Somerset?

romans used a lot of colors in their houses, buildings, and statues. A lot of people thought the roman statues were all white while in fact they were all fully colored (the colors faded away with time)

AUTHENTIC? Not really. Windows in the Cubicula AND facing outside? Not Roman.
@stefaorАй бұрын
I observed the same thing. I remember there where very little windows, just for the air. But maybe a villa in a more isolated area could be different. Any information to read about styles of construction of Roman buildings?

One of the cubicula at the Metropolitan, from Boscoreale, I think, has a similar window.

I’m not sure what you mean by “unimpressive” Those pieces are consistant with the visual records as well as surviving examples found at sites like Pompéi and Herculaneum. Quite beautifully crafted besides.
@shelleysanders9666Ай бұрын
Furniture in the Ancient Greek & Roman times was quite basic and there wasn’t much of it in the home. Hence the well-off would display their wealth with such wall-paintings, porticos, sculptures (& formal gardens in the Mediterranean).

Hi Dear, Hope you are doing well. I was analyzing your KZbin channel. I am really impressed by your videos but your KZbin channel has some issues. You have made many videos but your KZbin channel is not getting views and subscribers as expected. Because you have no complete SEO for any videos, no channel tags, and no video Rank tags, If you SEO your videos, your Subscribers, and Views will increase and your Channel will grow. I can help you if you want.
