How does this tent (Outwell Monterey 5/Sunhill 5) compare to the Vango Sierra 500? Which one has better value for money, specs, darker bedrooms and better longevity?

You're taking the piss. How about figuring out how to pitch the tent first and then record. The Vango Tailgate Hub is erected using a massively simpler technique, unless you're planning on selling replacements of all the broken bits. Start with pegging the thing down, then build from there. Congratulations, you've produced a video of how precisely not to erect a tent. 🤣😂🤣

This looks like a tent for when kids are getting a bit older, 2 parents, 2 kids, at a push 3. It would be a complete rethink for most of us that do the 3 zoning as standard and I think it's more of an extended 2 zoner which is quite nice. 3 zoners usually cook in the front, live in the mid and sleep in the back, this would bring the cooking and living into one. Last year we had the steel pole Vermont 7pe and loved some features of it, sadly it had many many flaws and was refunded but we loved the overhand on the front and I really wish this had that too, would definitely buy it if it did. One to think about, thanks for the review, you are our go to guy for tent reviews BTW. Who doesn't love a bit of Big Mike. :)

I have this on 360 form but want the 500. However I've seen 500 in person and it looks a bit too flexible. It's great as protection against the rain.😊

That looks different to the tahoe 400 in a previous post by you. The colour is different, and the windows at the front are different. Is that definitely a new vango tahoe 400?

Hi Mike, The next model Faros III poled is out but I wonder if that is a darker colour grey that this one. it looks darker but that can be just the picture.. id prefer a lighter colour so then I would go for the Faros II.. Thank you..

I bought the 2024 Beta 350XL. Very happy with it, as it has loads of room, you can have two folding chairs in the porch plus a couple of side tables, should it rain. The blackout bedroom is much better than the non blackout bedrooms. Ideal spacious tent for a couple and a child/ dog. Pitching time is a chilled 15 mins, but you could probably do it faster. For a tunnel tent it is pretty rigid, so the guy lines are well positioned. I have nothing negative to say about this tent, I have always bought Vango tents for this reason, that and being a British Company too. This 2025 model has 4000hh against my 2024 at 3000hh.

Great review. Aside from the TC, how would you compare this to the Virginia for features? Anything significant this doesnt have?

I am in love with this tent. Ive tried and tested a few shapes and xome to the conclusion a 'porch' in the UK is a luxury not worth having. This tent and its extra internal room seems far mor suited to UK camping and maximising 'entertainment' space.

Good job with trying hard to find the plus points of this tent. I don't see the point of having that airbeam. Why not just have it as a regular pole because air beams aren't as wind resistant as aluminium etc because they bend and dip far too easily. Blowing that up doesn't really save much in the way of time either. Also if your pump breaks or you forget to bring it you're kind of stuffed. On the plus side maybe it would be OK for motorbike touring camping for one or two people. For myself though I think it's a bit pricey for what you get.

Did you film the air vents at the back? Is there one or two? I liked the look of the Harris with two vents
