I have never done this and I will not do it, for practical reasons. But I strongly believe that no airline has the right to tell me where I should get off. It is a violation of freedom. If I choose to leave the flight before its final destination, I should absolutely be free to do so.

Granted i have more than average hours playing flight simulator, but I landed a B1 bomber in the training simulator at an air force base (my friend's dad was in charge of the simulator towards the end of his long AF career). He set me up for a straight in approach after flying around for a bit to get a feel for everything, but i nailed it. Afterwards, I saw my approach path vs the ideal path on his computer screen and i was stayed on it the entire time and rolled out smoothly. I only brag because i know full well that i had no chance of landing without lots of help and setup with perfect conditions.

I have a question to ask: What is the procedure for a minimum fuel approach if the destination airport is experiencing sudden high crosswinds? I know that if the warning is far enough in advance an alternate destination can be chosen....but what if you are already committed to land when the sudden gust occurs?

I knew modern airliners were somewhat automated, but it's pretty shocking just HOW automated they are. And all is well with these automated systems until an errant line of code causes problems.... Great job to the 3 pilots!

Perfectly working plane is not as hard to land as people think, some can do it with almost 0 human inputs, unlike lets say 25-30 years ago, harder without the help, especially if its older plane and\or little airport.

I personally think that Boeing's reputation has been so damaged by issues of trust and in-house issues that have saw both the FBI and the DOJ become involved. Its understandable why major airlines like KLM, Qantas, and Air Canada along with both Delta and American are switching to Airbus rather than buy anymore airliners from Boeing. Until Boeing fully addresses these issues i am afraid that the pattern of major airlines switching to the likes of Airbus, Embraer and Bombardier is just going to continue. So, in all honesty is there really any point in trying to launch a new product at this time, it's like sticking your head in the sand and pretending that the other issues aren't really happening. A bit like Trump trying to get back in the White House whilst facing the prospect of going to prison.

I fly couple of times per year, but my fear doesn't go away. I am even more nervous since Boeing incidents. I just don't understand how an aircraft company can take safety so lightly.
@HL6553624 күн бұрын
With a quick crash course in flying, most people should be able to fly an airliner and make it to the ground alive (even without ATC). At least in 95% of cases. In order to not die 5% of the time, there exist professional pilots.

i dont want henry to fly the aircraft im on
@Jensn133724 күн бұрын
thats amazing, pilots basically play just a videogame and are there to check the aircraft while flying if all parameters are correct. that autoland and autobrake systems are truly something else.

One thing I'm interested in is whether someone could figure out how to establish radio communication without prior knowledge of how to do it.

This has strong Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes vibes. It's a game about diffusing a bomb where one person sees the bomb and one or more players don't, but they have the manual that the diffuser doesn't have.

Sooo.. this is easier than just using the yolk and foot pedals? Can't I just use the yolk and foot pedals? I'd rather fly the damn thing than walk through a Microsoft tier overly complicated and non intuitive interface where pulling on a knob could kill me.
@silentz0r26 күн бұрын
If a person is ever in this situation, I believe the hardest part is being able to establish communication with ATC.
