I have caught giant bass over 10-12lbs in the winter haven chain and several 10-14lbs bass out of saddle creek… My biggest was 29.5” long and 24” in diameter caught in saddle creek… Never reported any of them but have been in the paper for a few of them.

Put Lac Seul on your bucket list. I fished it twice in the 90s and didn't catch a muskie, but the potential of a monster is there. It's very wild and remote. You could convince yourself that you're the first human to see a particular bay of the lake, but, of course, that's not true.

I have a 2 question for you Do you have to clean the fish blank with lacquer thinner and then prime the fish? Or just the epoxy scalp areas ? And you said you use lacquer base paints for your antiquing. Then you used the white on the belly then went back to putting black on the back. Can you switch back and forth with the lacquer and acrylic paints? Thanks for doing these videos. They’re very informative.
@kstenzel201024 күн бұрын
Not a bad idea to get in the habit of cleaning a blank before painting, however have learned from experience that the lake county blanks come clean & ready to go. And mixing lacquer and acrylics have not given me any problems as long as previous layer of paint is completely dry.

I cannot believe that fish came out of that mold so effortlessly, I tried doing the same thing with Vaseline and I need a dynamite to get it open. Also the gel coat would run down the sides and would not want to pool in the middle of the mold

A couple coats of a good good paste car wax & PVC has worked well for me. I also like to brush gelcoat up the sides of mold until it starts to thicken.

I have a question for you. You can’t cast the fish that you released can you?

No, unfortunately a fish has to be killed to make a good mold. But when a mold is made you can make many casts from it. Fortunately, there are many molds available for most fish species.

Any tips if I got the bass to dark? Maybe airbrush white and go lighter green ?
@kstenzel20102 ай бұрын
Hard to say without seeing it. Much easier to darken than trying to lighten. If it has not been glossed, might be easiest to strip paint with lacquer thinner and start over. But it doesn't hurt to try spraying white first.

@@kstenzel2010 Nice! I must have been in the wrong spot....
@howabouthetruth2157Ай бұрын
That's simply not true. I've been living in central Florida since 1969, and mudfish & gar have always existed in great numbers all across the state, they are native species. They don't affect trophy bass quality at all. The vast majority of people who eat bass nowadays eat ONLY the little bass, because they actually taste much better & cleaner than larger bass. The FWC biologists set daily bass limits for a reason. If nobody kept any of the smaller bass, they would eat up all of the forage, and eventually, the numbers of trophy bass will dwindle. Now what ya really want to worry about are tilapia, pleco's, and snakeheads. All 3 are invasive all across Florida, and causing all kinds of damage & other problems, including competing with our native species.
