This is not in the canonical scriptures. It's from the gospel of Thomas and is rejected from inclusion in the Bible because of its Gnostic origins. Gnostic theology is believed by the Church to be a heresy and cannot be followed by Christians.

Yes, you are absolutely correct in your assertion. And having read the scriptures cover to cover, and raised “catholic” I find my faith to be more aligned with continuing to search outside of standard church narratives. Respectfully, as I believe everyone should choose their faith and find love through it deeply. I struggle with the rationale to exclude any teachings especially from Jesus. The Thomas Gospel in particular speaks to the “light within” and being in us all. Similar to Genesis when it all began with “light”. I don’t find heresy in believing God is in us all. And I can see “Christ Consciousness” as a possibility to see that light. Massive blessings of Love to you.

Most who follow as fanatically as you appear to follow, have this visceral and fearful approach as they’ve been forced to “follow” as opposed to learn to lead themselves. Taught how to believe versus learning how to believe on their own. As for Eve, without her eating the apple during that mythical event, you wouldn’t have the conscious to even have an opinion let alone free will. That said, If you believe we are all sons of God. Religion is not reality. You will find no real answers to life's questions there. No one was born of a virgin. No one rose from the dead. Study Mythology and discover many more religions and cults that were never real.

@ryankr8ch I happen to align with the fundamentals of your thought here. In that, religion is quite possibly a myth in itself. Including the stories of virgins, and floods, and demons and devils. That said, I do believe there’s value in the core of the teachings. Not in that it’s a history lesson. But rather, if you study Christ for an example, and even Moses or Job, they all are examples to many of life’s questions. How to live with values. How to forge a path. How to triumph over all obstacles life has for you. The question here for me is not the validity to the stories. But there’s absolutely value to answering a plethora of life’s questions. @@clichejeff the fact it wasnt compiled with the Bible and the biggest problem is how Jesus was portrayed in it. He sounded nothing like he did in the other gospels and said things that either made no sense or was totally wrong. I read both the Bible cover to cover and the gospel of thomas (When I heard about it, I got curious enough to read it myself) and the Jesus in the gospel of thomas didn't sound like the Jesus I know. He sounded like a counterfeit. If you chose to believe the book of thomas, I don't condemn you for that, but my advice and opinion is that it's a false gospel, probably wrote by some random guy to try and cash in on the popularity of the actual gospels

@ForYahwehYeshua thanks again for this as I truly appreciate your perspective and insight. I too have read the Bible cover to cover and it left me seeking for more answers. Including for a God that isn’t predicated on judging and condemning of his creation that apparently are born as sinners. Including the ultimate “sin” of eating from the tree which actually gave us our ability to have consciousness and free will. That said, I just started the gospel of Thomas. I was intrigued because I was curious about Christ Consciousness as a concept and practice and this book, like the saying I referenced here, has some powerful messages. Is it in direct contrast and contradictions to the Christ of the Bible…? I don’t know yet. But I’ll never stop searching for the essence of Christ Jesus. And the power he displayed for all of us as sons of God in the image of creator. Really curious to continue hearing additional feedback from you as I certainly enjoy all people who choose to have faith. Regardless if it differs from mine.
