Crazy and here I am a Floridian thinking about how every time a major act has come here they’ve sold out every major arena that they have gone to. I’m not sure what the problem is, but it’s not the market and I have two decades and thousands of photos tickets, and meet and greets to prove that this market is viable and those who skip it should lose their jobs. And those that justify this behavior need to be quiet because we’re tired of missing out based on what other people think we will or will not do. The radius clause does not prevent the artist from playing within 100 miles under 60 days. That’s misinformation that you should’ve done more research on. The radius clause states that competitors cannot saturate the market with multiple shows within 50 miles of each other and prevent a competitor from booking. Bands can play as many times as they want in Florida as long as their booking agent does not violate this clause by only working with certain venues.

Great take. I live in Miami and I have to travel for R&B shows I want to see. I never thought about the length of travel it takes down to Miami. It definitely takes 8 hours just to get out of FL. And you’re right only certain genres do well here.

how can you save on deposits for a venue? if i am trying to book a tour for a tribute band, all these theaters want rental fees and deposits to save the date, is there a deal that i can get a lower deposit or none at all?

COGS should 100% be considered in merch settlements. I know for a fact that promoters use COGS as a deduction for themselves so why shouldn’t the artist?
@chrisgoyzueta
@chrisgoyzueta 6 ай бұрын
agreed! If they take a cut at all. But they deduct all their expenses from show settlements, so COGS is totally fair game!
@2LaMort
@2LaMort 6 ай бұрын
Exactly “or any cut at all”. At the most I think promoters/venues should just get a flat rate fee like the booth/space rental fee for fairs and festivals and conventions and the like.

Hello Chris, I’ve assumed the role of an artist manager and the artist has had some relevant local success but lost momentum along the way. I’ve recently had a meeting with a talent buyer at live nation who commended my boldness for reaching out for a “hold”. My question is how does an artist manager book festivals performances for their artists? What exactly I’m asking in industry term?
@chrisgoyzueta
@chrisgoyzueta 6 ай бұрын
This might be a good video idea for this Summer. You have to ultimately create value for your artist. Festivals like to see - 1. How much engagement you have on socials & spotify 2. Are you local or regional to the festival location (some support their local scene) 3. They a lot of times book smaller artists from the same agencies, labels, and management companies as their headliners - so the team makes a big impact. 4. Are you worth tickets in the area, and do you have a positive relationship with venues/promoters. 5. Do you have a relationship with the festival producers. Best plan of attack - 1. Put out good music 2. Test and run consistent ads to gain new fans 3. Build from a small venue, sell that out, patiently grow into the next size venues and don't move up until you're able to sell out the previous capacity 4. Put out consistent content 5. Be patience & be consistent over a long period of time. For some artists like the 502's, it might take 3-5 years to get on a Live Nation tour. For artists like Jelly Roll, it might take 10-15 years. There is a saying - you become an overnight success by being consistent for 10 years. Then you're "best new artist" even though you've been grinding for years. Hope this help! Got a little long in the tooth and passionate on this response. ha!

If I for example want to sign a contract with an a certain artist what business license do I need? Is it a LLC like you mentioned or could it be a sole proprietor? (For reporting taxes purposes)I would basically be touring with my artist internationally. I will be the one negotiating and booking vuenues. Thank you in advance!
@chrisgoyzueta
@chrisgoyzueta 9 ай бұрын
Not legal advice. For educational purposes only. Make sure to hire an attorney or tax professional to get what you specifically need for your business. In general, when someone is managing an artist, they don’t need any type of license in most states in the United States. An LLC is a great layer of protection along with general liability insurance. To book shows, every state has different laws. Some may require you to be a licensed talent agent to book shows.

Many different philosophies and ways to do things. I just think if you have a good product and content, that money is spent better learning how to properly run digital ads, and sell tickets for people to come see you. Never said not to spend money on marketing. I just think there are better more productive ways to build your career. Best of luck!
