How do we measure to make different sizes? Thanks
@jaddascraftcottage633512 күн бұрын
Thank you for your question! Decide what size you want, for example the finished product is 10” x 10”. The front will be cut 10” x 20” The batting is the same size The lining will add 2 “ on each end So the lining would be 10” x 24” The metal tape measure should be about 1-1.5” shorter than the sides So, cut the tape measure 8.5” This can work for any size bag The larger the bag, use a 1” wide tape measure, smaller bag, use 3/4 inch wide tape measure.

Why are you putting it in the oven
@jaddascraftcottage6335Ай бұрын
Thank you for your question! You need to put it in the oven to cure the paint on the glass. If you did not place it in the oven to bake it for 20 minutes, the paint would wipe off if it got wet, or chip while being handled. After working all that time to decorate these projects, you want to preserve them. They will last for years!

Where would someone be able to get a bunch of the scraps to stuff a cover? I found a big waterproof cover im trying to figure out the cheapest way to stuff it bc enough memory foam or even the other stuffing like for stuffed animals is so expensive for me 😩 im at the point of being tired of looking online but can't afford a bunch of stuffing i see. Im wondering if maybe I should just use old clothes. I do have a lot of clothes and the cover is waterproof so the inside wont get dirty. Im trying to avoid washing a bed bc im currently washing by hand my machine broke. That's why I'm getting a waterproof cover.

Thank you for your comments! As a person that sews and quilts, I have a lot of scrap fabric. When making a T shirt quilt, I had all the cut up t Shirts that I could use for dust rags, but instead, I put them into the bag. Yes you can use old clothes! But if there are buttons, snaps, or zippers on the clothing, remove them before putting them in your bag.

Thank you for sharing this. I wondered if you uploaded the pattern? If not, certainly fine, but thought I would ask to save time. Going to make 2 boxes for my cousin's greeting table at her funeral. Going to put 2 different pictures of her, one different on each box and send home with her 2 siblings afterward.... Useful during the funeral and a remembrance later on. That is why I wanted to save time so ya know. Ty again and have a blessed day.😊

Thank you for your comment! I am not able to upload the pattern. Take a large piece of freezer paper and place the tissue box in the center. (Even though it is a square tissue box, there are different sizes) traces of around the box, then lay it flat, lining it up to that square mark , trace around it. Do it on all the sides. Add 1/2 inch to all those marks. You should be able to get your pattern. You can adjust the measurements to the ones I made that are in the video. I think what you are doing for your friend’s memorial will be very nice! I am sorry for your loss.

How is this microwave safe if you are not using 100 percent cotton thread?
@jaddascraftcottage63353 ай бұрын
I’m not sure! I have been using my serger thread and Omni thread which are polyester and nothing has ever happened. I have been making these for years! I don’t think that the microwave is as hot as an iron set on cotton. What will happen is after a lot of uses, the rice may become burnt, and then you will have to replace the old rice with new rice.

Why didn't you just put in the metal tape before sewing the one side so you could sew the seam all at once?
@jaddascraftcottage63355 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question! When I first made them, I did place the metal tape measure in, then tried sewing it. I was worried that my needle would hit the metal. So then I decided to sew down one side to make sure I didn’t hit the metal. When I inserted the tape measure , I could see if I needed to trim

@@jaddascraftcottage6335 yes I need tissues in my car because I have allergies, and I use many, but I have no place to put a rectangular box, I live in Italy and the square box is hard to find and even costs more, why I have no clue, so I added a strap that I sewed in the seams and put it over the head rest of the passenger's side, I always drive alone even if I have a passenger it can always be shifted to the back of the seat. The opening is an oval slit, but the tissues pass through the grommet with no problem. Your tutorial is the best one out there and I have seen many.

Thank you for your comment. If you want the elastic snug, I would measure the elastic about the width of the box, maybe add 1/2 inch to it. When you are doing the top stitch at the bottom, then you can tuck it between the two fabrics. I hope that works out for you.

How do I figure out yardage to cover my seat cushions and backs
@jaddascraftcottage63358 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! The marine vinyl I got was from JoAnn Fabrics and it was 54" wide. It can be pricy but you want to get a little more than you need. You should measure your cushion the width, length and height of cushion. For example the cushion is 30"x44"x6"... the width would 30" plus 12"(2x the height) = 42". the length would be 44" plus 12"= 56". That is the size of the cushion, now you need to add at least 3" all around for the tacking. The size is now 48" x 62". For that cushion because the vinyl is 54" wide, that will cover the width of the cushion but the length will need at least 1 3/4 yards of fabric. Again, I would probably get a little more just to make sure it fits. Good luck with this project.
