Since early childhood, Neha was exposed to the world of Indian Raga Music. Her father, Shri Vidur Mahajan, a proponent of the Beenkar Gharana, not only trained Neha in her early years but also organized concerts of many great maestros at the Shriranga Kalaniketan Annual Music conference.The musicians often stayed with the family and Neha got the opportunity to informally learn and get acquainted with the world of music. While pursuing her Bachelors and Master’s of Philosophy, Neha had the opportunity to visit ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata, where she was exposed to the rigor of training in the Maihar tradition. Neha studied under the mentorship of Shaswatti Saha for 5 years, to understand the perspective of the Maihar tradition of Sitar Playing. Neha also acquainted herself with the Senia tradition of Sitar playing under the mentorship of Shri Ravi Gadgil. Her journey in music found stability once Ustad Zunain Khan, from the Beenkar Gharana, took her on as his disciple.
