I remember he said when he got to the top where all the tourist are who climb up the side of it using the two cables didn't even notice him coming over the face. He just blended in with tourist.

The crazy thing about his free solos (e.g. Half Dome, Moonlight Buttress) is that he did them ALONE. When you see the footage of him on Half Dome (wearing a green button up and chatting with the cameraman), it is a re-enactment of a solo he had already done -- you really can't make a movie about Honnold's free solos when no one was there to document them!! Even in the movie "Free Solo" some of the Freerider footage was shot in the days after the actual climb. Granted in that footage, he wore a harness underneath his clothes and was attached to a rope.

0:28 look at that, literally pinching onto NOTHING. Alex is genuinely cut from a different cloth
@Nightwishmaster5 ай бұрын
It’s really not a bad hold, most climbers would be able to crimp it pretty well. It’s the movement itself mixed with the holds that the difficulty stems from.
@chicken298434 ай бұрын
thats a pretty okay crimp from the looks of it. He does full crimp so its probably not awesome but certainly not atypical on pretty much any route

@@davydoom yep, it's insane. honnold is like some kind of superhero. i think about his climb here a lot because it's notable that it actually really shook him up, he doesn't talk about being scared like this on any other mountain. the main issue is he went up without knowing the route or the moves, he winged it
