I was told at the Sun Studios that Johnny Cash got some of the rhythm section by holding a dollar bill around the strings of the guitar and strumming with no chord...

That is true.

MAY I ASK WHAT STRINGS YOUR USING AS THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME THICKNESS . MANY THANKS .
@cigarboxgus5 күн бұрын
It’s the A, D and G string from an acoustic set.

Happens a lot. Gluing up the fingerboard generally mitigates the issue a little, as well as the string tension once the whole thing is done. But they’re never perfect, and I’m not even close to “install a truss rod” skilled.

Ho Yesssss love it ... I would have a small request if possible, to do ''Friends in low places'' by Garth Brooks with this same cigar box guitar. That would be awesome
@yvessamson50542 ай бұрын
WOW, exactly the kind of video I need. I lost 2 fingers due to my job as a cabinetmaker so I only have my thumb, index and middle fingers. I played guitar and 80% Country music. I can no longer play the chords. A musician friend told me about a cigar box guitar that I'm going to make myself so I'm watching KZbin for ideas. And there, ''Bang'' you're video... Thank you for taking the time to make a beautiful montage and especially for the quality of the explanations.

Thank you so much.I just saw your lesson this afternoon and I will definitely try to imitate your great playing style.This video is the best I have seen so far and it gives me hope that I will be able to play a tune on my Cigar Box Guitar ( finally...sure I can jam all sorts of riffs but playing an actual song will make my day!)

Very nice. Thank you. Is your tuning gdg?
@cigarboxgus5 ай бұрын
It’s in the GDG ballpark, though I didn’t use a tuner or anything. Probably should have tuned down to FCF for my voice though.

This sounds great. I also built a washboard. Where did you place the pickup? On the backside?
@cigarboxgus7 ай бұрын
Yeah, it’s on the back of the corrugated metal, in the middle and near the top. It was a total guess when I put it there, and total luck that it worked ok.

@cigarboxgus7 ай бұрын
This one has electric strings, which means the middle four from a pack of 10 gauge D’Addario XL strings. Tuned ADGB low to high. Basically standard guitar with no E strings.

Cool, what kind of pickup and Amp is that. Sounds mean.
@cigarboxgus Жыл бұрын
Pickup is just a piezo disc glued under the box lid. And the amp was a Roland Micro Cube set to the fuzz setting that’s supposed to sound like a rectifier amp.
@tad1111 Жыл бұрын
