These covers are great, but I wish they expanded even more than they do. It's also irritating how the product website doesn't make clear what the difference is between the ML450 and ML500, other than saying "EXTRA DUTY" on the latter (whatever that means).

Do these work on metal boxes? ETA: I got what I thought was a good answer from "Kirk" in an answer to my question on Amazon. These work by digging into the plastic to keep the clip from pulling out. They would probably slip on a metal box. FWIW, most of the comments were positive on Amazon about it but they were based on using it on plastic boxes.

"Bell's Outlet" 🤣 Called it, a mean old money southern woman. As I was trying to help her at a local Home Improvement store here in Florida... So much for "Southern Bells" I'm a veteran and I wasn't sardonic or sarcastic about it. I was profesional all the way as usual, going the extra mile. But she was sent by her boyfriend with a list...And his descriptions weren't clear at all... Their exchanges over speakerphon?...Demanding demeaning towards her... I knew it was coming, ignored a couple of negative comments and remarks... But then he questioned my knowledge and called me stupid on top of suggesting getting to the competition for the list... When I defended myself? She said behind me: "-Your intelligence means shit!! what you have done is shit!! That doesn't mean anything you can't find nothing!!" That after more than half the list was completed... And I did just that... Told them they were rude and abusive, and fowl mouthed... And to please got to "home depot" I turned around and left her blank... She called for help again and complaining at customer service with all kinds of lies ...I was called over the radio!! And I embarrassed her in front of half a dozen customers through the Speakerphone: -"Is that the woman with a list with the boyfriend on speakerphone? Then NO! She said that my intelligence was shit and what I have done as power grid technician with the military is shit and means nothing... They have been rude fowl mouthed and abusive so NO I won't help them... Let them go to Home Depot for "help" like the boyfriend suggested" Fortunately that is less than the 1% of my customers and hapened after almost a year here. Leadership and coworkers are great. Yes we are exposed...But no one should step over the dignity of others treating them as mere servants...Like shit. I saw her again and I apologized...But in her own style: She said: -"I know people with ptsd...You shouldn't be working with the public..." -"Yes, you said you were married to a psychologist..." She said that very proudly...After I confronted her again...And picked her brains out without she even realizing it... One has to wonder why he divorced her?... The pill bottles in her purse tells the story... Beware, remain cool calm and collected.

It should work as long as you have about an inch from the face of your joist to the edge of your hole. Just make sure the screw end of the bar is on the joist farther from the hole.

I bought this product and had to do the same steps as far as removing the previous, non-fan rated, bracket and box and replacing with this. One suggestion for the product is to have different feet size options. The studs between floors in my house are weird and have small studs on top and bottom, with OSB between. They’re not flush like the 2x4 they demo on, so getting the teeth to dig in was difficult because of the feet. I had to get creative to get it to work, but it still worked out. Near perfect product and by far the best for this type of application.

I have a better way for I joists, I ripped a 2x4 to 3 inches wide ( easier to fit through the hole) test fit it on top of the lips (cut the length so it's snug) of the eye joist..When you are satisfied it's snug take it back out and lather the ends up with PL Premium construction adhesive. Now stick it back through the opening on the I joists. Strong as hell and only cost is a piece of scrap lumber and some adhesive.

Would it kill you to show everything that's included so buyers can have some confidence? Have been looking at MX6200 for months and still don't know if I can use it with a 6-50R.
@Comm0ut
@Comm0ut Жыл бұрын
I have three of various styles and they do include a round panel with "knockout" rings that fits a 6-50R. I would NOT use these for that but instead use a STEEL outdoor box with included outlet, like those used for RV power which is what I do for my welder outlets. The lid mount tabs are delicate as they should be to protect the box, but steel is a much more rugged choice. For a couple of 120V receptacles they're OK. BTW next time if you wire a 14-50R you can have both voltages on a single receptacle. The first thing I should have done when placing my first welding outlet forty years ago was study RV panels, cords and other hardware. I strongly suggest others do likewise to get the most out of a limited number of receptacles. BTW the newer design plugs with three finger loops on the back are VASTLY nicer to use for heavy cable like the SOOW I use for my welder extension cords.

Just did a single bdrm receptacle. Took more time to walk, turn off the breaker and walk back to the receptacle than to loosen the screws, place it behind the screws, snug it up and place the outlet cover back on. HD 3 pack 2.74. Extremely time saving no "dilly dallying" around product! Straight forth, works perfectly.

this doesn't appear to work when the new work box was attached to the side of a joist during construction. it looks like your electrical box won't go flush against the joist so it's oriented above the hole in the ceiling.

Your new production is total garbage. The corners holes in your surface plates do not align with the ears in your boxes. The corners must be drilled out for the screw holes to line up. The is the case with all the current 4x4 drawn boxes. The square boxes have the ears and the threaded holes in them placed slightly more inward and therefore line up perfectly with the usual amount of play. This is what you get when you start cutting corners and moving production to nexico and china (neither worthy of proper case). These products are used exclusively in the USA and Canada. Why make them anywhere else and then have to ship then back here? These are simple one-piece stamped metal products. Raise the prices if you have to but don't cut quality to the point the product is useless. Whoever is in charge of supervision of this production is a total moron. I am glad am moving on from the trade I have loved and performed as perfectly as humanly possible basically my entire life.

Why do the boxes only have 2 corners with screw holes? Is there a box that can allow all 4 corners to be secured?
@TKC_
@TKC_ 2 жыл бұрын
Never seen one with 4. Even old ones. These are meant for speed and utility not looks. 4 is not needed to do the job so they don’t bother. But 4 holes is needed in the face plate so you can mount the box in any orientation. You could always glue some screws in the holes to make it look even…
