So I've just wasted a few hours of time running through solutions to this and for the other 1st world problem encounterers, here is a little guide. 1. Make sure your Macbook is fully updated. 2. If you update your mac and it still does not work then try a different adapter, (£6 on amazon) this was my fix. 3. Get a good hdmi cable too capable of transferring your desired resolution. 4. Play with your settings on your monitor, select 21:9 or whatever aspect ratio it is then restart the mac. 5. Failing all of the above there is a problem with your monitor most likely, go get a refund or sell it to someone during christmas lol. Good Luck.

A new solution I'm testing out is downloading a software called "SwitchResX". You can select from a variety of resolutions Currently using a 2017 Macbook pro I7 on a 49 inch samsung odessy and I tried all options but the SwitchResX software is currently working for me.

I dont even want the resolution, I bought the Samsung odyssey G8 and then bought a cable C to displayport cable 16K silka and an adapter from mini DP to displayport so it would get the signal. It doesn't work for me. my Samsung odyssey only comes with MINI DP as a plugin option, it doesn't come with display port option :( I don't know what else to do. please help. I have a MacBook air 2024 M3

how do you get 2 49" displays to get it to work with MBP M3 Pro with full res? I use Displaylink cables with a minisopuru dock but it limits to 3840x1080 for both monitors. If I use only HDMI for one of the monitors, it shows full res but when I connected both displays 49" , it only down scales. I also don't have option to Scale display with the new Sonoma even after pressing ALT. Thanks
