What is the “extra” string set? I assumed this was a ten string at first. Sounds amazing

The 7 sympathetic string are all .10 gauge and run under the main bridge. Super cool construction
@GoodRNG2 ай бұрын
@ what do you mean 7?? Isn’t it 6?
@barehandedproduction2 ай бұрын
@@GoodRNG The main set is 5 just like a standard 5 string, then the 7 sympathetic string run beneath

@@barehandedproduction maybe we’re getting semantics twisted here. To my knowledge “sympathetic” strings imply they are an octave or duplicate of an existing string. A 5 string in “standard” is gdgbd, so “sympathetic” strings should be those 5. What notes are the other 2 “sympathetic” strings you’re referring to? Love this nerdy banjo conversation haha

Coming back to this again, and I can't believe it only has 2.5k views. Absolutely stunning arrangement, beautifully performed. Has become one of my own favorites to play

I found an elaborate one string bass in the attic. It was probably something my later brother found at a garage sale but someone put some time in on it and it sounds great and is fun to play cartoon sounds on it.

Hi Jonas! I have one of these! What do you tune it to? And the sympathetic strings? Sounds lovely.
@banjoafterdark77115 ай бұрын
Hey! That's so cool that you have one....I decided to let go of mine a little while back to make some space for new instruments, but I always did enjoy playing it. I kept in in Double C with the sympathetic strings all at CGE and F. I just saw your video with yours...sounds great!

Listening to this from my hotel room in Mexico City. Sorry to be missing the ensemble version of this on Thursday. Loving what you done here staying true to spirit of the tune but bringing in things that echo Roscoe Holcomb and Rihannon Giddens for me. Now I'll just think "Jonas Friddle" when I hear this song. Beats the pants of Clapton's version in my book.
