Hello fellow ADHDer! Totally agree with you about the concept of time and how it’s hard for us to conceptualize things. My brain just doesn’t like quarterly planning lol. I love your setup. I’m currently in a Weeks (N2 in Sterling Ink size).

Thanks for watching! And yes, quarterly planning is not good for my brain. I have found monthly goals to be more helpful but not always. And how are you liking the Weeks size? I was thinking of using that for next year!

ABD status was my self-torture. Teaching full time was my inattentive excuse for four long years. Then, finally, in a fit of bad temper, I started and finished the damn dissertation in six weeks. (Research completed beforehand, of course.) Why should you persevere? Because public health is important work. And because you have a distinctive contribution to make.

Sending you well wishes. I was diagnosed last year and it was like changing. Worked with my therapist and got right amount of medication and I was FINALLY able to read a full journal article at the age of 34 as an accomplished scientist. I was so amazed. A lot of people don't believe i have a disability, because I've accomplished a lot at work. But i lose things a lot and am a mess, can't clean even when i really want to. When i spoke with my family, they said they always knew i was different. I wish i knew, but also they didn't want disability to prevent my growth.

Thanks for watching and sharing your story with me. I’m not medicated (yet?) but have been working with my therapist to find tools that help me manage it along with all the symptoms that come from being an ADHDer. But i definitely understand people not believing you. I’ve been through that as well. And what’s funny is that my mom was just diagnosed with ADHD at 70 so i had her normalizing my behavior because she was the same. There’s a lot of NDs in my immediate family so i felt safe but definitely wished i had known when i was younger. I would have been saved a lot of heartbreak

@@justcallmeivonne Hi! I did it because it was the only offer I got that wasn't adjuncting, and i LOVE teaching and doing research. I applied to tenure track and non-tenure track positions as well, and just didn't get any bites, but I wasn't ready to leave the university setting yet. I haven't yet found an alt-academic or non-academic job that feels like a good fit. I'm not sure if this postdoc is just kicking the decision down the road a few years, but I've gotten so much mental space to teach and write (much more than I did in grad school, and much better pay and benefits), so it's a nice place to get to take a breath and consider what will come next. Definitely down to talk about it at any time!

Ivonne, i love how you explain everything in detail, its very insightful and helpful! Just a little bit of constructive criticism, as much as i love doggies, your doggie biting on their toy was very loud and distracting and at times overshadowed your voice :(. I know you said you live in a small apartment, but maybe you can film when your doggie is sleeping? I wanted to keep listening to what you were saying but the biting noise almost made me click off. Anyways, i subscribed and I'm excited for more videos! ❤

Thank you for watching! And thank you for the feedback. I always try to film while she’s sleeping but she wakes up as soon as i start filming! Maybe I’ll see if i can get her a quieter toy or figure out how to cut down some of the background noise when I’m editing. Thanks again!

Thank you for watching! I touch on it in my unboxing of the planner and in my planner line up. But the short answer is that i loved the hobonichi cousin but i didn’t like the dated dailies so the SI had what i loved about the Cousin but with the flexibility of all those blank pages. Hopefully that clarifies!

I love seeing what people have going on with their planner lineup. It's fun and everyone has great ideas. I love the reading bingo you have set up. A few of those are part of my reading goals for next year as well (reading books in other languages, trying poetry, non-fiction, etc.) I think I'll have to set up a bingo card of my own, it looks like fun. I also love what you have set up for language learning. Seems like a nice way to keep that goal/hobby from falling off your radar. (I'm very forgetful). For 2024 I've decided on a uni planner, a commonplace notebook, and a journal. Hopefully I don't change my mind too much before the end of the month. 😅📚

For Australia, I would recommend Barbara Baynton’s short stories. She wrote of the horror that women faced due to isolation and lack of personal safety during early colonial (invasion) days. Then for contemporary books… Anita Heiss’ “Am I Black Enough For You?” was really well written. Hope these give you a start! Australia isn’t known much for its literary output but we have so many amazing writers! 😊
