10:50 so… FHWA & Joint Office think J3400 is great, BUT the law still requires CCS and only Congress can re-write the Law 🤓

It is my hope that all members of this sub-committee own and drive an EV. If not, each one should at least spend some time at a local charging station along an interstate, talking to EV drivers that use the existing networks. I am sure 90% of those drivers they meet would love to give their opinion on where chargers should be placed and how fast they should charge. The bureaucracy that they seem to have to deal with, and the restrictions placed on them by politicians must surely make it difficult to focus on their goals. Which seems to be starting a useful, reliable, and well designed network. One other thing. I do not know if these webinars are intended for ordinary citizens like myself. But I would love to know in advance when each webinar is scheduled and be able to comment on the discussion.

It's crazy how far behind Nevada, Kansas, and Missouri are.....
@emrimbiemri32112 ай бұрын
That's by design. Just look at the roll out of NEVI program and you'll see MO is lagging behind everyone. I expect that they'll award winners in 2026 at this point.

I am tired of politicians claiming that the NEVI funds are not spent properly or "They have only opened eight chargers" It would help the NEVI programs image if progress information was more available. A simple app that had videos of construction of charging sites. A map of current and future sites. Up to date graphs of number of sites in operation, under construction, waiting for permits, actively under negotiation. And lists of this data sortable by date, state, and highway. Along with the program budget and where the money is spent or intended to go. As well as explaining the process to an average driver.

More Level 2 destination chargers are needed. Doctor offices and restaurants are good choices But public locations like city centers, libraries, colleges are important for those that can't charge at home.

Absolutely, that's a big part of the CFI program! www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment/cfi/

Wow that hooking your EV to a station video would be an awesome commercial to educate people on how charging works. Preconditioning the battery? Wow. I guess that’s why buses are perfect for electrification

Movie theaters could save themselves by investing in ev chargers throughout parking lot…..

Daaang that federal tax credit page is broken. And it says you have to make sure you get the credit at time of sale, which is a big asterisk

I’m glad he said that at the end. As I listened to this I felt my hopes of becoming an EV Technician for charging stations sink underground because I didn’t want to go through an apprenticeship at 31. I’m glad that he explained that for me. And I would like to learn more about the difference now.

Good to know that you are working on it. I think you also need to look at Level 2 charging. It is often overlooked as an important charging option.

"...all of the others have CCS." My other EV has CHAdeMO, we got fed up with the unreliability of CCS. So this guy is an important figure in EV charging and he doesn't care about my Nissan Leaf? I am concerned. CHAdeMO was a huge improvement for us. And not all Teslas can charge at CCS stations, about 80% shipped with that ability but the upgrade for the older Teslas has been hard to get.
