Whoever writes a comment stating that Sammy Hagar became famous after joining Van Halen doesn't know anything about his trajectory as a musician. Sammy Hagar was an already well established musician way before joining the band from Montrose to his solo career. Van Halen did change in 1986, making 5150 a number ONE album for any of them. Sammy brought a level of sensibility to the songwriting process. Yes, David Lee Roth was a very integral member in the band, times changed after his departure. To all the newborns and so-called experts out there, I lived that era and have been following VH for almost 50 years. Ah, VH favorite band ever.

I’ve read 6 books about Van Halen. Alex’s was my least favorite book. It basically confirms what the other books are saying. Don’t get me wrong, there were some great childhood stories, and he gave some great insight to the way he and Ed wrote songs. It’s not what Alex says, it’s what he doesn’t say. Michael Anthony is never mentioned outside of 2 or 3 sentences. This is my favorite band. After reading 6 books, the one member I’d like to sit down and have a beer with, is Michael. He seems like he’d be the most down to earth of them all. It’s a shame the way they treated him. I wish he would write a book because it would probably be the most fairly written of them all. My favorite 2 books were Van Halen Rising and Ted Templeman’s book. As much as I love this band, I really wish there wasn’t so much drama behind the scenes.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am a huge Fab 4 fan - but are you telling me that there were no better candidates for this award?
