We have not been to Jamestown, but we need to. We have been to the museum in cobb/Cork Ireland. It is in the building where Irish walked through before boarding ship to leave Ireland for Canada, US, and Australia. From another line of ancestry, two of my Scot Irish 2nd great grandparents (lol I thought they were Irish for a long time) left from there during the potato famine. It wase explained to us because jobs were scarce young couples who wanted to marry would leave there to find jobs so they could afford to marry. In my ancestors' case. he was in the state 3 years before her and she lived with her married sister in the states for 2 years before they married. He was 30 and she 27 when they got married which was old to marry back then. Lol they still had 7 kids though.

Except for this one set of gg grandparents my ancestors were int North America by the 1700's. I also have a line of ancestry they were not on the Mayflower but went to that settlement in 1634 on a later ship. Another line came to Quebec from France in the late 1600's. Their descendants left Quebec for New York in the early/mid 1800's. That is through my mother. My father had southern roots, mostly from Virgnia originally arriving in the 1600's to early 1700's. Lol my parents met during WWII where he was stationed in the Army before he got shipped out to Europe. That is how I have such a varied ancestry. I am truly a Henz 57.
