Interesting to put native songs into choir form...kinda like the last of the Mohicans. I am Ute mountain Ute and I definitely have mixed feelings about this. As long as it is being respectful thats all I can ask for....
@user-ty8me4hm1w3 жыл бұрын
are you willing to elaborate on why you have mixed feelings about this? im doing this with my university choir.
@PzzaDaHut663 жыл бұрын
Being native is elaborated enough. It's bad enough yall think it's good to have this done to native American prayer songs....its not for white people yall already desecrated our lands, beliefs, bodies, and minds. I say leave our music and songs alone....its the most responsible and respectful way to not take more of what is indigenous to the first human beings....
@user-ty8me4hm1w3 жыл бұрын
@@PzzaDaHut66 I'm black.... should've mentioned that in my question. This song was arranged and originally recorded by a native american. I see all that. White people do it to our culture too, but don't you feel that if it's done respectfully it's honoring the tradition and people that produced such music?
@user-ty8me4hm1w3 жыл бұрын
@@PzzaDaHut66 I gave this second response some more thought. what happened to your people was atrocious but when my mens choir performed it we did it with love and ernestness and discussed it's implications to make sure we did it in a respectful way. the song arranger even came out to hear. i know what you mean. i hear white people using the n word and it really pisses me off. this is that but woth something more meaningful. your traditional music. right. I'm trying figure out how to feel about our performance myself

Superb. Captures the mood of the Raag quite well. Your interpretation of Ballelaika was fantastic. You may have heard of Salil Chaudhary. His music was heavily influenced by western classical. Most of his hindi songs are highly amenable to choir singing. viz 'Aha Rimjhim ke ye pyare pyare geet liye'..

This gives me the chills... My director just gave this piece to my Chamber Choir a few days ago and played this recording as an example and I almost cried, it fills me with such emotion. It's especially amazing because the director I had when I was in middle school was a part of the PSCC. I don't think he is anymore, so I don't think he was a part of this video but this choir holds a special place in my heart because of him. I just love choir you guys, honestly what could be more beautiful.

Film name is Slum Dog Millionaire The name itself is indicating to insult Indian people who are living in slums. We hate this film, and the film is ultimately big flop in Indian cinemas.
