It is not. Artifacts exist, but these appear to be capture or encoding failures. Patching the ROM (using the patch and instructions from the link in the description) and running it in bsnes with the prescribed configuration yields the performance results seen in the video. It takes all of 5 minutes to get running, and runs fantastically. Feel free to continue talking out of your ass with zero corroborating evidence though. As an additional note, AI video interpolation is absolute trash at producing results like these. Go look at any 'smart' TV from the past decade for an example of said trash. tl;dr - you're wrong and we're all playing 60FPS Star Fox without you because you just didn't even bother to try. Sad.

@@KazPinkerton For one the explosion sprites are too smooth. I highly doubt BSNES could generate more sprite frames and squeeze them into the game. Let alone getting them to execute in-game. I sometimes interpolate low frame rate television footage for archival, trust me, i know the artifacts when i see them. Kandowontu's 30FPS and 60FPS hacks demonstrate what actually happens. Star Fox ends up going too fast to be properly playable as star fox is built around the low performance. Even after Kando modified the levels and other code to slow them down, it's still not this well controllable.

@@KazPinkerton hi! it's ai interpolated. i did testing for the hack, i'm listed as "sega mega drive" in the credits as that was my old disc username. the real deal is definitely not as smooth as the video makes it out to be, he's played it as well so he knows what he's talking about.

@@segaretro92 the apparent smoothness in this case is going to be more a factor of the machine running the emulator rather than the hack itself. Indeed, the “full speed” variant of this hack is only limited to 60FPS as a side effect of the video driver configuration in BSNES. You can switch to the OpenGL driver and disable synchronization and the game will run at a hilarious (and unplayable) 200+FPS And, yes, its ludicrously difficult even at 60FPS but not because of a lack of controllability, but because the game logic (in this case) is pegged to frame rate and this greatly improves enemy efficacy. In other news, lossy-encoding artifacts and AI interpolation artifacts can look remarkably similar. “Missing data” just kinda has a look. As for the explosions, that’s how they look for me in my build of the ROM on the most recent BSNES on my machine. They certainly don’t look like what you’d expect from Star Fox but I’d wager that what we’re seeing has always been in the game, but was culled at render time due to the hardware sprite limit and low clock speed. BSNES (and most emulators of this generation of platform) can effectively just ignore these limits.
