- No power connectors needed - Shits on 6500 XT on backwards PCIE compatibility (x4 on 6400 XT vs x8 on 3050) and tasks other than gaming. - Still maintaining the same 75W as 1650 - Only $32 more than 6500 XT I see this as an absolute win.

Currently there are no motherboards that are not capable of running 7800x3d. It demands very little power.

I want to build an i5 12400 PC with a B760M riptide, my intention is to BCLK. Can the 2024 i5 12400 still be BCKL properly? and can it be as good as the old i5 12400? I looked for information on the forum, it said there was a difference between the previous and current versions of the i5 12400, I was very confused,

This is the first time I've heard that you get better OC results by using only 2 sticks of RAM, and now I'm glad I got 2x 24GB DDR5; that should work well in my new build with this board. Great video and a really interesting topic. 12th gen will be remembered as one of the greats, and maybe the last great overclocking from Intel. Figures that it wasn't intentional! The 7500F is a gem too, from what I understand, and I bet it would have won decisively in a full overclocked comparison, which I would love to see. But that's easy to say when you're the one doing all the work.

I have 2 i7-13850HX. Still have no idea what motherboard to get for the 2nd one. The first build has a DDR4 motherboard, so no problems there. But I want one with DDR5 to get the maximum single thread performance out of the chip. Currently looking at the Asus Z690-I Gaming WIFI and ASRock Z690 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB4.

To be honest i hate the fact the Gigabyte downsized the PCB quality for all of the Aorus "Pro" series from 8-layer low loss to just 6-layer mid loss which will hurt stable DDR5 speeds. You were right eventually since Gigabyte has just released the X870 Aorus Elite WIFI7 which is the exact same motherboard as this in every single way just with a bit of PCB recolor and a bit different heatsink.

@@shusui9665 i would get the msi x870 tomahawk, its 8-layer low loss with a beefy vrm and redesigned bios and the price is pretty good compared to most of the x870/x870e lineup

Get 2x16 6000 cl30, please. You can't upgrade from 2x8 to 4x8, expo will fail to work in most boards. 7500f is a much better CPU, stay with that choice, but please, no 2x8.

Thanks for the review. Regarding usb 4 display port output, does it require drivers to output video on the screen, meaning you can't use it until it's fully configured and it won't work on unsupport os? Or the drivers are required only for the usb4 data connection?

I have the 13950HX ES version. Negatives: Can't install Windows 11 (says incompatible) Memory controller for DDR4 sucks and SA voltage makes no difference (I think the video of the Chinese supplier ran Gear 2 single rank DDR4 to get 4000MT/s which is deceiving) Positives: Direct die cooling allows for load temps below 70C Cinebench R23 scores over 40,000 (equal to 13900k) Seems to be optimized/binned for low wattage, only seeing 220W in Cinebench with a 40,000+ score

I just got a 7500F and on default clockspeeds, I get a farcry 6 result of 97avg, 137max, 71min on CPU-limited resolution (1280x800) (which is still about 16% higher than what i achieved with my previous 5600X. These numbers differ WILDLY from what you have shown in the video. Maybe my RAM is the limiting factor here, as I have 2x16GB 40CL 4800mhz, so that might be an issue. I did not expect the results to be THAT far off though. Can this be the case? (My Graphics card is a 1080ti, but on that resolution, the GPU probably has no effect at all, just mentioning it for sake of completeness)

Yes, you are crippling your CPU extremely hard with this ram. Get 2x16 6000 cl30 kit, sell yours. Ryzen benefits from good ram.

@@ArtyomExplainsEng I got my RAM to work at 6000 and 30 CL, which already improved the FPS somewhat. I also found out that my cooling is subpar and CPU therefore clocks down to 4700 mhz. So now I will get better cooling. Still even after I will have fixed all of that, I find it hard to believe that I could ever reach your FPS from the video.

@@rikai5344 Try to apply a PBO offset, try -40, go down -5 step at a time. Test stability with an intense workload, like occt, atleast 30 minutes for each step, if it does not crash try it for a day in normal operation and if no instability is visible then keep the offset. Mine works great with -30, it can even do +200 pbo freq boost at -30. Check my latest video where I test 12900HX vs this 7500f with a -30, +200. Keep in mind there is not latest Windows 11 fps boost patch applied, I made the test just before it arrived :( 7500f is only a 88w CPU, it should be just fine on almost any cooler, unless it is very small one. Hight temps on a ryzen are expected, even 70-90 in gaming due to a fat heat spreader.

Honestly i'm half tempted to buy this cpu given how unique it is that and emulation wise i bet this be a good bang for your buck emulation cpu once you get the right overclock going given i do have a gigabyte z690 aurous sitting in storage collecting dust so using this cpu would give it a nice home at least.

A lot of good information here, but let's be honest, as much as I do not like agreeing with Linus, it's not a 12900K, regardless of board or settings. These 12900HX dies may or may not be able to handle the additional wattage a 12900K is tested to spec. It's a gamble, even more so with engineering samples. Better values at this price point, maybe don't go this route unless you just like to tinker.
