I always wear a helmet on the ice because for some reason I *always* hit my head on the ice when I fall - just like this guy at 0:07 -- granted, I have not really fallen in the past 6 months or so and I have been on the ice 2+times a week for 2h since, but when it happens it just does. I am often the only adult person wearing a helmet on the rink, but I am sticking with it. Last winter I helped 4 people call the paramedics because they had fallen in some unfortunate way (mostly arm injuries) - I think it could have been avoided with protective wear every single time.

The forwards into backwards drag is very much like a 3-turn so if you want to finish going directly backwards rather than spinning round you need to check the rotation by keeping the free shoulder back and brace the core. A fun finish to that move is to end up in the splits position.

That's a very good effort with the spin on hockey skates because they are not designed for spinning. I think a challenge with a fancy stop would be tricky for the figure skater - like a penguin stop or a New York Shuffle stop.

Sorry to say I think the figure skater won again! But good job by the hockey skater checking those three turns to eliminate the extra step before pushing forward onto the next edge - that's not easy.
