Still need a welder to fix the robots "precision "

Highly skilled welders and fitters should be on more complex tasks that robots aren’t a good fit. Companies should use robots to train new hires and start teaching them the trade. There is and always will be a need for skilled welders and fitters. The Challenger is an excellent choice for welding structural steel assemblies that are easy to fit and weld.

So less jobs and fewer competent people in the world. Just some roboland where the robots get the work and the people get fat, dumb and deluded, sad but true.
@TheDavemurrayy6 ай бұрын
I get the productivity/ lean mfg angle but it’s a dislike for me. People need decent jobs. (Not one machine operator replacing 3-5 .) Make a TIG welding robot and then I will worry. You can train almost anyone/anything to mig weld. My company bought an OM Avenger drill line in 2015 and it wasn’t near what they thought it would be. Replaced with a Voortman robotic plasma line in 2021.
@dannysteyn6 ай бұрын
Understood, I suspect your company purchased a Robotic welder to further improve productivity. Advances in technology ensure thate there will always be faster and cheaper ways of doing things........

i wish yall would make a budget assembly/welding robot. all of the ones i have checked out are over 2 million
@randal312211 ай бұрын
no way in hell this is as productive as a robotic plasma coper. i could see it being helpful for a small shop though, but the robotic plasma copers are absolute game changers for growing shops
@dannysteyn11 ай бұрын
Hi Randal - yes you are right. Plasma robotic copers are faster, but they cost 2x - 4x as much as the Liberator, and they require dust extraction unit to remove the plasma fumes. Plasma consumables adn dust extraction filters are ongoing costs that fabricators must deal with. Also, most plasma copers are limited to around 1-1/2" to 2" cutting capability so they do not work when you need to bevel or cut large jumbo columns. Currently one of our Liberators is performing 45degree weld prep bevels in both the web and flange of a W14x850, which has 6" flanges and 3" webs. We have had many Liberators perform cops that do not lend themselves to Plasma copers. Obvirously all machines come with their benefits, features and price points, and most machines eak out their place to play, and the Liberator has been a VERY successful product in Ocean's quiver of products for structural fabricators, and will probably continue to be one for the foreseeable future.
@randal312211 ай бұрын
@@dannysteyn oo ya i could see a large shop using it for jumbo sizes, thats definitely true. good point. one decent sized project filled with jumbo beams would pay for it. but the robotic plasma copers pay for themselves so fast its crazy. id just hate to see a smaller growing shop get talked out of a plasma coper over the price of it
@randal3122 Жыл бұрын
are those endless slings? so you have to move them so they are at the ends of the beams?
@dannysteyn Жыл бұрын
Hi Randal - yes the slings are loops. You lower the tower so that the slings can be pulled off the pulleys if needed, loop them around the beam place them over the pulley (takes about 30 seconds per side, and then raise the tower and the beam is lifted off the trestles, ready to be rotated. So simple - one of our fabricator just reported that they went from 12 beams a day to 23 beams a day on the same welding station. That is how much time was being lost waiting for a crane.

This amazing CNC drill line was a best seller from the very first day it was introduced, and has proved to be a total GAMECHANGER in the structural steel space, allowing even the smallest shops to compete with larger fabricators. Our smallest customer with an Avenger is only a 2-man shop, and we have hundreds of Avengers installed in shops with less than 10 employees. Also, we have more than 200 of these machines installed outdoors in shops that were too small to house the drill line. And at the other extreme, we even have Avengers installed in fabricators doing over a 1,000 tons a month utilizing multispindle drill lines, but they will never give up the Avenger and the versatility it provides them. #gamechanger #structuralsteel #oceanavenger
