This man should be ashamed to chair the board or head the plane of untied airlines. The most repulsive behaviour I've seen on a airline dragging a doctor of a plane breaking his nose and leaving him semi conscious then in December 2020 throwing a small family of the plane for a child no able to wear a mask disgusting this will always be a stain on your record until you address or completely disown this airline your mum and dad would not be proud of this company repulsive behaviour from top to the bottom.

I know this woman. I used to be one of her students when she taught at Kansas State University, Manhattan Ks. in the 1980s. I am glad she has been very successful. I wish I had been one of her better students.

So nice to see that we have power distributed in Illinois. See, it is not just Michael Madigan - Who has been the speaker of the Illinois for a third of a century - who controls everything, but his wife gets to Chair many boards. And his daughter is a chief law-enforcement officer. Ahhhh, Democracy.....

Better transcription: I’m deeply honored to be here this evening and share this very prestigious award with my distinguished colleagues. We're all very grateful to the members of the Lincoln Academy. My group represents the curators and collectors of the Lincoln story. We're the ones that keep his memory alive through the gathering and assembling of manuscripts, artifacts, rare books, paintings, and sculpture. Museums need curators, curators need collectors, and collectors need dealers. We travel this road together hand in hand offering the public what they might not see otherwise. To be a collector you need more than just being able to purchase a piece. You need the passion and the vision to know what to do. I myself have been totally consumed with his passion for Abraham Lincoln and his family for over 30 years. It is our responsibility, curator and collector alike, to be caretakers and preserve and protect these extraordinary pieces of Lincolniana for generations to come. When I started collecting thirty years ago it was basically a pursuit by men. As a woman no one took me seriously. I would tell people about my hours of scouring catalogs and reading biographies. I’d tell them proudly that I was a Lincoln collector. They'd laugh and joke about it and asked me if I was referring to pennies or five-dollar bills. It was far more than that. Now, proudly, a large part in my collection resides here in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and there's more to follow. For years people asked me what I intended to do with my collection and I didn't think that I was ready to face that decision. But in the end, as collectors, we all have to give these things up, and what better place for mine to be than in Springfield, Illinois? I came here in the nineteen seventies and was immediately hooked on Abraham Lincoln's hometown and I still am. What a great state Illinois is to not only claim Abraham Lincoln but Ulysses S. Grant and now our new president Barack Obama. It's been a joy and a privilege for me to collect Lincoln and be a part as his story but it's a real joy for us to share our collections. These pieces touched our hearts and now you, The Lincoln Academy, have touched our hearts even more and we thank you for this honor.

Does anybody know how to get in contact with Mrs. Taper? I am interested in reaching out to her to gain some insight on her passion, as a collector, for Lincoln.

This July 4th, The LA of IL is honoring past laureate, Staff Sergeant Robert Miller. He was a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Wheaton, Illinois. As a youth growing up in Wheaton, he was the kind of student who would "go the extra mile," and he was proud of his family's longstanding service to the country. As a soldier, he continued to distinguish himself by earning the title Green Beret. On the night of January 25, 2008 Miller, at the age of 24, was serving as the weapons sergeant in Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha 3312, Special Operations Task Force 33, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force Afghanistan. Following an engagement with insurgents, Miller was killed when he drew fire from over 100 enemy fighters away from his team and upon himself. On October 6, 2010 President Barack Obama awarded Staff Sergeant Miller the Medal of Honor "for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life above and beyond the call the duty." #July4th His mother accepted his award, the Order of the Lincoln in 2012 on her son’s behalf.
