I agree this is not a good beginner bike with an initial cost that will likely scare away/disqualify most beginner riders. IMO the 457 buyer will end up being someone interested in a lighter weight and lower cost alternative to the ZX4RR though I don't think it will have the engine tuning potential of the Kawasaki. Best is not the same as best fit and in the end I think a base Ninja 500 or CFMoto 450SS is a better choice for those looking for a brand new beginner sport bike.

This is being called a beginner bike but literally isn't in the EU because it isn't A1 compliant and after a tune and exhaust its just going to be more in the class of the ZX-4R which is a fun class of higher power low cc bikes which I'm all for and love low cc higher power machines! Basic point is low cc doesn't necessarily equal a beginner bike and beginner riders need to be aware and safe. I'm all for when the big 4 manufacturers went to war with their 4 cylinder 250cc bikes back in the 90's, but just because those were 250's doesn't make them good beginner bikes either. Since we haven't had these options in a while in the low cc class thought it was worth discussing, especially since now they are using much more than 250cc's. Appreciate the feedback
@xaero726216 күн бұрын
@oneeyedrover It's A2 compliant, meaning it's still considered a beginner bike since it's limited to 47 bhp (35 kW). A1, on the other hand, is restricted to 125cc, which I'd call 'pre-beginner.' A 125cc bike is just highway-legal in Belgium. And regarding tuning, the average rider isn't going to modify a brand-new bike. As for awareness, I think the EU is well aware of the risks associated with motorcycles, which is why we have the system of A1, A2, and A licenses. Unlike the U.S., the EU prepares riders for the increase in 'size' and power when progressing through motorcycle licenses. Power also plays a huge role and the type of motorcycle these are "sport" bikes

I think it's the sum of a lot of things combined that makes so therapeutic. Like many outdoor recreational sports you kind of forget your societal/personal life and just do the sport, all your thoughts are as you mentioned on the single performance. And to add on to what you said about the sunlight, I think the fresh air is definitely helping too. Research has shown that O2 rich air has many health benefits both for the body and brain, Inside we don't get that. Lastly the adrenaline rush makes you more relaxed afterwards, as how your dad mentioned it can be exhausting but in a good way. After a good ride (or outdoor sport performance) you feel relaxed yet energized, accomplished and refreshed. This all plus hundreds of other small things added up like enjoying the view and seeing nature. There is so much about it that can be experienced as therapeutic.

If the power is enough for any application then why should they add more. And the Ninja is not lighter, its heavier. The 500 now gets a lot more torque from the updated engine but at the expense of character, it no longer revs out like a sports bike. I know the power-hungry market's been pressing Yamaha to up the engine displacement and it will probably succeed, which is unfortunate because this little gem of a bike is damn near perfect as it is and there are as absolute ton of advantages of having a small engine and only one con, performance, so back to what I was saying earlier,if the performance is enough then why go for a bigger engine.

The R15 is sold in markets that also generally have much more lowered power cars / slower traffic, so in those areas an R3 still feels plenty powerful and sporty. In Nortth America, average traffic has atleast like 200hp, highway speeds are easily 120-130kmh. R3 doesn't have enough power to keep up with those kind of cars and honestly feels kind of dangerous at highway speeds.
