@@TweakTips Thanks, so I’m doing my best without a bench power supply of thermal cam, been watching heaps of videos from all you legends like ToltecMerc, Joey, Phil etc, actually joined JoeyDoesTechs discord server. So bought it off EBay, it’s a newer EDM-031 (not much content on KZbin in this board) looks like it was never opened, apparently just stopped working no power no beep. PSU is fine and looks like I have most voltage’s but I couldn’t find a diagram of the rails for this board. I then found F7200 fuse had no continuity, and 2 caps front and back of board in this circuit close to the fuse were short to ground. I removed the caps but the shorts still there. Some helpful members on Joeys repair discord said that the circuits are for the WiFi, turns out 3 caps under the WiFi ic are short to ground and one on top next to the shield. Don’t know whether to just remove the WiFi ic to see if the shorts are gone or remove all 4 caps? The guy on discord said I should start with the DCDC converters but even if they are bad I don’t have a donor and I can’t even find the tiny 8 pin ic on the internet, it’s labeled 027 or 02Y, it’s very hard to read. Maybe 1 is 027 and the other 02Y as I was told the 5.1v is converted to 3.3 and 1.8 for the WiFi ic? Any thoughts my friend?

@@TweakTips Well thank god it was the WiFi IC, that took serious heat and when lifting it the shield moved and dozens of caps etc went sliding all over. But the short is gone 😁

@@TheCroupier74 From my experience, if more than one cap under the WIFI IC is short, then 9 times out of 10 it is a bad WIFI IC. Personally, I would swap out the WIFI IC. They can be a little tricky to remove as the metal plate covering it can get desoldered from the IC when you heat it, so heat it from below and very carefully pick up the entire WIFI IC (including the metal cover) with a pair of tweezers - I sometimes find it easier to push the IC to side before I pick it up. I think the other IC you mention sounds like the 1.8v to 5v converter - if so, Phil has them for sale on his shop - take a look at this and see if this is same as you have - www.consolefix.shop/collections/replacement-playstation-5-components/products/f7002-5v-to-1-8v-ic-for-ps5-edm-020-edm-030-edm-033-motherboards

@@TweakTips I heated from the top because I didn’t want to melt the WiFi cable connectors, yeah the shield slid off so I better be careful with the replacement. Can I ask you, do I need the same revision of WiFi IC? Or is any J20H100 chip ok? I’m hoping with leaded solder the replacement will go on easier 🙏 Oh and I now have 1.8v and 3.3v showing on the caps under where the ic was.

As long as the pins are still attached to the motherboard, you should be able to push the black plastic housing back on again (just make sure the pins go through the correct holes)

Ok I’ve got it off but it’s a lot or black residue.. does this mean the motherboard is cooked/damage? I attempted this on one for parts.. don’t want to damage the working board ya know

IPA stands for Isopropyl Alcohol. It is the cleaning fluid used to clean off the residue flux etc

Depending on the version operating system you have installed on your Xbox, you now can simply install a blank hard drive into the Xbox, and install the OSU1 file from USB (there is no need to copy the files to the hard drive anymore as Microsoft updated the process about a year ago)

It seems to keep resetting all the time then the xbox sign just flashes. I tried like 3 hardrives but I read something about the HDD connector that might be the issue should I try resorting to this option and can it be any hdd connector purchased from an online tech store ?
