Is it me or the track "Burying Friends" is built on the initial notes of Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin? If that was intentional, I tip my hat to you, Mister, for such a pretty good tribute!
@StevenLynnMusic11 сағат бұрын
It's not, it's very different than the intro to Stairway. It IS very similar to a later verse section in Stairway though :) Not intentional, but that was the first song I ever learned so it's deep in my subconscious

You are hereby summarily awarded the rare Golden Bowie Knife (with .357 magnum champagne cluster) heritage presentation piece for this pheee-nominal work of love, patience, and inspired artful music-craft. Great googly-moogly -- we here at Dust Junction Heights certainly hope you achieve much wider recognition, praise, and earthly reward from your labors! @@StevenLynnMusic the first one was kind of a post-grunge acoustic folk rock album. I saw them on that tour in 1998 with Metallica and Alice in Chains's Jerry Cantrell. I briefly met their second guitarist Todd Whitener, later of Tantric. Cool guy. Very tall. I think they're from the Louisville, KY area. The second and third Days of the New albums were basically Travis Meeks solo albums and had a more progressive and "world music" sound. They were much more complex, atmospheric, and less straight forward than the first one--crossfades, sound effects, choirs, and orchestras were put in and the guitars were buried in the mix. This new sound pushed away a lot of fans looking for straight forward rock so Days lost popularity. But, I like the newer stuff better. Just more ambitious and creative songwriting all around. The later albums get compared to The Doors sometimes. Sad that Days of the New broke up as a band after the first album but they were really just playing what Travis wrote mostly. Talented group of kids to all be around 18 years old at the time. Check out "Dancing with the Wind" from the third album (Red). I think you'll like it. It's a full orchestral arrangement that sounds like a Danny Elfman soundtrack. Travis has a lot of other unreleased music (Purple--an unreleased album, and some demos) floating around out there on the Internet but until he gets his personal life in order I don't think we'll see another Days of the New album sadly. From one guitarist/home recordist to another, thanks for your work.
