Those pyroshki are exactly like how my babushka made them - please, someone who knows how to make them show me how! I wish I paid more attention to the cooking of my babushka and matushka before it was too late. Where can I go to enjoy pyroshki like those?

Had no idea the paddle-wheel steamboats lasted well into the 20th century, but come to think of it, why shouldn't they? They seemed very well suited to their back-country river environment - shallow draft, no propeller to foul, plenty of wood fuel available along the banks.
