Stand alone diesel heater is a bloody good idea! Can't help you've missed a trick not welding a few "tie-downs" in the rear body frame. And I'm a bit concerned that there won't be much thread in the tapped holes in the box section 🤔

I've watched plenty of Land Rover builds.... It's great to see someone doing something a bit different.... Purpose built as a working vehicle 😎

You're doing a nice job on this.... Certainly chucking lots of new parts at it! 😂 On my 110 there's a spreader plate that goes on the inside under the bolt heads, it's not thick enough to cater for the over long bolts though

I have a 606 in my landrover, things you need to watch, change the Glow plugs, whilst you have the inlet manifold off, pin the front crank pulley, my key sheared, took out the internal bore of the pulley, and lastly look to increase the water volume of your cooling system, these engines run hot when running hard 👍. Superb content

Hi,I would like to ask if its a good idea to use the automatic mercedes gearbox when doing these conversion?
@KeetonMarine3 күн бұрын
I wanted manual because we do a lot of towing, the issue with using the Mercedes transmission is we would need to run an TCU to control the gearbox and then a divorced transfer box. We may use a ZF auto in a future build there are stand alone tcu's available for these. Thanks

Old man near me used to put a Ford Transit engine in everything he owned, the 'banana' one, because the timing belt was easy to replace and they used to be cheap. Your choice opens up new possibilities.

Thanks we turbo'd a few transit di engines they were a strong unit.

Did you not need to change the rear oil seal or spigot bush? Nice work.
@KeetonMarine8 күн бұрын
Great point, I fitted a Bronze spigot bush but forgot to film it, and the rear main was dry so I decided to leave it for now because I plan on fitting a R380 stumpy gearbox this year and I'm going to change it then, at present I'm running an LT77 I'm not sure how well that will hold up to the OM606,
@RobinLeveille-i4v5 күн бұрын
@@KeetonMarine Keep the LT77 only if (suffix G and H) it's very strong.

I have a discovery 200tdi in a series 2a, standard turbo, I run it at 20 psi boost , goes really well without any black smoke
@KeetonMarine8 күн бұрын
Thanks, That's some boost is it holding up okay. on another note how is the 2a gearbox holding up I have a series 3 I'm thinking about fitting a tdi into.
@PillSharksАй бұрын
Funny, I’ve just fitted a fox hybrid on my 200tdi. The original covered 320,000 miles and I asked the bloke what sort of condition it was in and he said he’d expect the wear to be half the miles mine had done! Let’s hope the fox one last as long as the original.
@KeetonMarineАй бұрын
The quality seems really good the one I sent him to rebuild had over 200K and was still good, hoping this one will do the same can't see any reason why it won't and a little more go is good as well!!

Turbo technics VGT. Once you’ve tried will never go back to any of these cheap crap! Instant boost at low rev range, no lag or delay. Ran one on a 200tdi challenge truck with 37”tyres would keep up with td5’s.
@KeetonMarineАй бұрын
Thanks I would love to try a VGT turbo, would you use one on a daily driver ? if you follow the channel I'm currently building another 110 this ones going to be OM606 Powered should be a beast!!
@M94289Ай бұрын
@ yes absolutely as a daily driver. Don’t adjust the wastegate on them as the internal veins are controlled by the pressure, they come ready set up and bolt on. Allisport are the main supplier.

Really enjoyable build and some very good editing. The oak looks great. What fasteners did you use to secure the planks? They look smart.

Thanks for your comment I am really enjoying this build, the screws are stainless screws pre drilled and countersunk.

Was it originally a orkney with the cabin taken off ??
@KeetonMarineАй бұрын
It was originally a Sportique XLR a prototype of the XLS but v drive, this hull was a test mule. Paul viewed the hull and the rest was history we started the build from there and now its living its life out as a fishing boat.

I didn't connect mine into the existing exhaust. But I did get a 3m section to route it out the back of the vehicle next to the exhaust. I found the heater fumes leaked into the cabin when it was side exit, because we all know what defenders are like for sealing
@KeetonMarine2 ай бұрын
Thanks I have taken your advice and we are running it away from the cab to stop any fumes, going to try utilise the rock slider as part of the exhaust. Thanks 👍
@philss13 ай бұрын
Starting to look good! Very interested in the diesel heater fitment as I’ll be doing that when I get one. Waiting to see if you route exhaust into truck system or whether that creates back pressure on the heater so it doesn’t run properly. And waiting to see how the painting turns out.
@KeetonMarine2 ай бұрын
Thanks I'm going to try and run it to the back or at least try get it away from the cab so it doesn't cause an issue. 👍

Ye ,ye it says headline is it best UK river boat, but owner as usual referenced it English!! Always the same ignore, wales, Ireland, and Scottish dont they? I've stopped buying after 25 years my motorboat n yachting magazines for exactly the same reasons,also motor bike guide, always bloody England 99% of the time. And the mbm went up a £1 , previously it was £5.75 after last increase. We all have rivers to suit your lovely boat, shame it's taking me years to do mine on a miserable pension.
